Been playing the Japanese version for the last 5 hours or so with 6 other people. I gotta say, I'm loving ROB.

Since nobody really wants to play with me (my school friends live very far away), I don't like Smash 64 because there is little single player. I can't wait to play SSE in Brawl though!

The only thing I hate about Brawl currently is the graphics look very dry and depressing. I know it's supposed to look realistic, but it just, sucks. I haven't heard any of the sound effects yet, I hope they have good sound effects that are loud and that acually feel powerful rather than Melee's sound effects which were soft and poofy and stupid.

I say this with no knowledge.

The first SSB was great seeing how it was never going to be released out side of Japan also it was low budget.

I agree. It's hard to keep playing for a long period of time.

Super Smash Bros. may not be the best of the series, but it does have the best opening cutscene and announcer.

I never said the new one was shit, I merely said that, in an expanded form now, "Why have Brawl when you can have the original?" Don't jump to conclusions. Of course Brawl is better. Does the N64 have online capabilities, without having to use an emulator? Does it have the slim graphics whereas the Wii is more superior? Hands down, the best topic I have seen on NG in my tenure. The original is FAR superior to the Game Cube version. I have played the game cube version and I always go back to the original because it is much more FAIR AND BALANCED.

I have yet to play the new one for the Wii but I have little hope that it is better than the original because the N64 versions have been superior to the sequels. All of the sequels have been dumbed down and made much more "casual" friendly with all of these unbalanced super moves (Mario Kart and Mario Tennis Gamecube). Looks like the new Smash Brothers is going the same way with the powerball etc.

Despite owning a 360 having "next-gen" PC games, I still play my original Xbox, and SNES regularly because the originals are often better. Sequels in everything (games, movies, books, etc.) are rarely better than the originals. The one rare exception is the pure Mario franchise in which the games continue to get better (Mario Bros>Super Mario World>Mario 64>etc.)

I don't understand the hype about Brawl, it's just a game D:
