Okay,He began to speak that same hour,The doctors did nothing. As a matter of fact the suggested pulling the plug. Also explain who created us then,if he is imaginay. If your gonna pull the Big bang bullshit, then who created the matter that caused it?

Why did it have to be created- why couldn't it have formed- why couldn't it have caused time itself- why couldn't matter have been a constant thing- you asked for "an explanation" and there you have it. At any rate- many people can survive wounds- i realize yours is rather special- but not impossible.

At any rate- humans have developed morals naturally- you know why soldiers must be trained? They must be taught to willingly take another life. Other morals evolved(not biologically, more like the way languages 'evolved') from human interaction. IE- chinese and japanese morals are probably completely different than yours- because yours are based on your parents- your country- your society- and your theology, and not to mention any philosophy you may have been taught by any of those.

Earlier you commented something like "why does jesus's name make so many people get quiet?" I would like to point out that you may observe this in AMERICA a primarily christian nation- but if you went to, say iraq, and said Muhammad, they would get extremely quiet. Does that mean he was a prophet- or that their theology speaks highly of him?

I don't really see the point here. Nightcast9 is hardly the first person who comes in, gives some random arguments for the existance of God, and then leaves while saying that we don't listen/it's pointless to even try.

Do people really expect that you can just fly into a form and grab a load of converts? People int he politics forum is made up of people with strong opinions on different matters, hardly the fence sitters you might be lucky to convert now and then.

I am atheist because I am not stupid

Religion should not be as important as it is

I do not fear death
I can comprehend what happens
There is nothing .... but not like your closing your eyes nothing ... you cannot think ... you are nothing

but who knows there could be reincarnation that would be cool

responding to starting post: are Athiests, athiests because they are not responsible for their actions... Funny, how Christians do good, because they want to please their Lord, and go to heaven. They do good for a REASON. they expect some sort of reward for compassionate deeds. (that's like rewarding a child with a Video Game, for getting good marks, or Candy, or a nice car).

Where as Athiests do good deeds, knowing that they have a RESPONSIBLY for making things happen in their life, instead of praying for God for Blessings. They go out and create the blessings. Example Getting Good grades, because it'll lead to a good school and a prosperous job, or doing productive things in their endavours in life (should they not chose to go to post secondary). That they do the right thing because they know that they alone are responsible for their own growth. not some will of God.....

Athiests do good deeds of compassion in the world, for the sake of doing good deeds. They know there is no God to impress, or no heaven. That they do good deeds for the benifit of others, certainly they not benifit from it, as they are dead, but future generations will benifit.... Christians do Good deeds to show the Lord that they are trying to live "God's" commandments.

Athiests do good deeds to make the world better, no reason for reward.

Athiests therefore are more responsible.

Thats not always true,at least not for me. I do good deeds because I was taught to, and because it makes me feel good. When I see someone who needs help, I say to myself " wouldn't I want help when I'm in trouble? " Plus helping others just for a reward from God does not work,You have to do it whole-heartedly or God wont accept it. I just wanted to clear that up.

my understanding is that the social consciousness has evolved enough that many of us do not need to be externally intimidated to act good. that is, our good deeds are not all necessary motivated by fear. I can see this in many of my religious and non-religious friends.

I'm not an atheist, but it drives me crazy when people imply that it's impossible to live a moral life without religion. What happened to treating others well out of a basic respect for life? I'm agnostic, but I don't try to behave properly because I'm afraid that I'll be sent to hell if I'm bad. I do it because I know that I don't enjoy it when other people treat me poorly- they probably don't appreciate when I treat them poorly, either. If I kill someone, there are innumerable other people connected to the victim that will be affected adversely. You don't need a god telling you what to do in order to live your life as a "good" person.

did you get your answer? that is my question to the one who started this thread. The way I see it is almost like sexuality, some will believe as others will not. I grew up in a very Christian state of America and admit that I learned a lot of my morals today from those around me, most being christian. However this does not translate to "because of christianity I am a better person." The morals that I hold dearly are universal and are prevalent in all beliefs as I've seen. A lot of people don't think that just because a religion's followers are violent; that does not mean that the religion is violence-based. Everybody seems to need a code of ethics, or a way to live their life. Those that participate in religion are the ones that feel that they need that religion as a ballast or anchor. They feel that by being of said religion that they are a better person than without. I however don't find comfort in prayer or religion, that is why I am atheist. I don't hate those that practice religion or hold contempt for those that tried to teach me religion. I have questioned my ways and asked myself about religion, what it means, what's its purpose. I've decided that I don't need religion to lead me in a direction, or that it would benefit me to practice religion. I am not a very superstitious person, or believe in "paranormal" occurrences, it all sounds like a big camp-fire story to me. But that is me, different strokes for different blokes. I don't think that anybody is lesser for practicing religion. I also don't hold anybody better for practicing religion either. Their is evil, violence, perversion, and pain all over no matter what you do or don't practice. People do what they want regardless of what religion they do or don't practice. A person is responsible for their actions regardless if they believe that it will pay off for them in the end or not. There are always immediate and long-term results of one's actions; whether or not you realize it.
