You can make a movie clip.
Draw out the dotted line, just like you already have.
Then create an animation of the wanted color running along the dotted lines, until you have them all covered up.
When you turn the layers to mask each other, it should look like that brown color is running along, creating the dotted line.
Put a stop (); on the last frame so that the animation stays at the fully colored in part.

It should work. If you need a better explaination, I'd be more than happy to do like a step by step rundown of it.

I had some stuff to finish at school. Because that's mostly where this has to be done.
But then school is over pretty soon...

Hey guys hows it going, I worked hard thursday to get the weekend free. If my family doesnt make me do chores then I am free and will work as hard as I can on my animation

I am not so sure about the mayor scene, like do you want me to edit out the speech or what?

yeah, CB City goes through lulls, I think its mostly because this isn't a collab that makes it really easy for all sorts of people to just submit something and be done with it, its a collab that thrives on the small collective of people who do really affiliate with the collab and do more than one part for it.

also, at the end of the day, when the collab is done, its the movie that'll be remembered more than the thread :P

if it was the other way around then we'd be making movies to plan threads!

Guys I finished my cartoon but I cannot figure out what the problem could possibly be. You see it wont extract it to a flash file, I have no clue why. Any ideas?

Well it should automatically save to a flash file..

What program are you using?

unfortunaltly I only have flash 7. But I recall having this problem before. I go to test the movie and you get that green bar like any other time, and it gets hafe way, then closes and if I try again it results in the whole program closing luckly I saved it though. I cant export it to a flash though is the problem. I recall having this problem before but I forget what I did to fix it.

the file animation is just a blank white screen then, I do not understand how to fix this.. I checked and saw no sound files in places they shouldnt be, no motion tweens for blank areas, so what could be the problem.. could one of you guys take a look at it for me?

really excellent work mr. clay. ya, excellent job. I'm kind of conflicted though, because its such a stand alone piece, and it's pretty much two minutes long on its own, do you want it as part of the collab line up, or as a seperate thing on the menu?

I was thinking, you could come up with a title for it and then on the menu there could be like, 'play movie' and then beside/underneath that there could be another button that said whatever it is you want to title it, say, for instance, Soggy Cardboard, and then beside that it would say 'by DrClay'.

Personally I think that'd be quite polished and would be a really attractive way to put it all together, but its your animation, so I'll let you decide!

do you want me to cut it down? Its you and Nick's collaboration not mine. I wouldnt know what you think would be best for it. Sorry I didnt think it be that long..

no no, I really love it, its awesome, dramatic, and really skillful. don't cut it down at all. I think it just wouldnt really fit with the rest of the pieces of the collab because the other pieces are scenes, little camera angles of cardboard city, where as what you've done is make something with a story, something with a beginning, middle, and end, and for the viewer it would be hard to change from watching different angles of a city to watching a complete, plot driven short.

thats why I want to use it as a standalone that you can get to from the menu. I think that way people would appreciate it the most.

well do it how you think the collaboration would look best. Because you and nick made the collaboration. You guys would know best how the collab looks, since mostly you guys are puting the scenes together. I didnt realize we were only making camera angles, next time I should read more XD

it wasn't really 'specifically' supposed to be camera angles, it just so happened that thats what most people ended up doing xD

yeah, horizontal panning camera angles seemed to be the popular choice for most people.
