I'm not trying to spam or anything, I just want to know. I support it because I'm bisexual, but I want to know what NG thinks.

OMG a bisexual! You're different than me! I'm gonna publicly persecute you until you go away!
Nah... gay marriage doesn't bother me as it doesn't affect me, but to all the Christian propagandists of the world, it's a different story (see above).
domestic violence can be funny too!

- I oppose gay marriage at the federal level, but oppose a BAN on gay marriage at the federal level at the same time.
In the US, marriage is an ordinance of the states and not the federal government. The 10th Amendment of the constitution allows each state to decide laws that are not under the jurisdiction of the federal government.
Therefore it's unconstitutional for gay marriage to be forced down the throat of the entire country by the power of the federal government. So I think that each state in the US can decide for itself. If Massachusetts wants it, that's fine, if Texas doesn't want it, that's fine. But the federal government doesn't have the right to make every single state change its individual marriage laws.
- I am morally and logically opposed to gay marriage.
My feelings are that homosexuality is unnatural and that "marriage" is a term reserved only for a relationship between a man and a woman, a natural couple. Therefore applying the term "marriage" to a gay couple, in my eyes, would be not only wrong morally, but it would be incorrect, similar to putting a shoe on your head and calling it a hat.
But, of course, I don't think I have the right to prevent gay people from getting married due to these views because I separate what I believe from what I believe the constitution in the country allows.
So I'm politically pro-gay marriage, but morally and ideologically against it.
Yay, Obama won. Let's thank his supporters:
-The compliant mainstream media for their pro-Obama propaganda.
-Black Panthers for their intimidation of voters.

A serious political discussion in general? This is new, but not unwanted.
I myself don't care if gay people get married.....
Fuck, that's all i have to say.
What is real. What is an illusion.

Gay marriage is always a subject that is going to have a certain amount of controversy surrounding it. Of course, there's the argument that marriage is something that is reserved only for heterosexual couples, and all the similar arguments against it.
If we think about it though, what significance does marriage even have in modern day society? I'd be inclined to say that most heterosexual couples who get married these days don't take their marriage vows as seriously as couples did only a few generations ago. There's huge numbers of annulments and divorces now.
In light of this, I'm lead to think that maybe, if us heterosexuals aren't taking marriage so seriously, then why should marriage be something that is reserved only for us? It just seems a bit self-righteous.
I think that perhaps marriage should become a more general consolidation of a couple's dedication to one another, rather than something reserved only for straight people. As I said - if us straight people aren't taking it seriously, then perhaps we don't deserve to have it be something that is exclusive to us.

I don't encourage Homosexuality, but, as long as the marriage isn't a religious one, I don't see why not.

The problem are marriage laws. Why should pe9ople get tax breaks for being married? What if someone can't find someone to marry or doesn't want to marry? For what reason must they be discriminated against? They whol;e system should be scrapped to save tax payer's money and start making lazy leaching married couples pay their fair share.

It's not solely a political issue, though, is it? It's also a moral issue, a religious issue, a personal issue, etc. In fact, I'd say that this is less of a political issue than any of the other issues it touches on.

That's what I was trying to get at.
Thanks for being serious, guys. Well, most of you. The NG BBS is usually full of spammers that ruin the seriousness of topics.

I have yet t see a gay marriage last more than 10 years. 100% of the gay married couples i know, are divorced and/or turned back. It's really just a waste of time.
Also, i've never understood "bisexuality". How does that work? Do you have sex with men on Mondays and women on Thursdays?
Do what now...?

No, you're attracted to both, and have sex with whichever you feel like/can get. Bisexual might go their whole life without having sex with somoene from one gender, if they live somewhere where, say same sex relationships are frowned upon a lot.
Sexual orientation and sexual experience are two different things.
Anyway, I support gay marriage. My logic is, that two consenting adults that love eachother, why not let them marry?

I disaprove of gays and what they stand for.
But as a Christian I'm obliged to love them as my neighbour.
For the record, disapprove of them being gay, not hating them. D:<

i don't think it's "marriage" because marriage is something that the church dolls out, and if they say no, then it's no. however, if you want to be joint by the state, go for it.

I see no reason to try and stop them from getting married, except for the religion argument, in which there is no point in arguing.

If two people love each other dearly and they are both of an adult age I see no reason why they can't be joined together in holy matrimony. Their love is just as important as a straight persons love.

Not in Holy Matrimony, homosexuality is something the Bible denounces, it would be blasphemy to do such a thing.
