Hmm that looked pretty good actually. The music was god awful but thats to be expected. Whatever happened to Sega making good theme songs? Wtf happened to Crush 40?

Anyway speaking of Sonic Music I made a remix of all the zone songs from Sonic 1 (The song you hear after beating it)

Yeah, and when did they go with Owl City to make their theme?

Crush 40 was no better. Cheesy unbearable lyrics, overly mainstream teen-hip rock style, and bad fake-sounding 80s guitar riffs.

Regardless, it's a damn shame. At least it was peaceful. Despite me, again, not remembering much of SatAm (I barely remember more of AoSTH, but that's probably because it was on more often), I get the feeling he was a far better writer than the Archie Comics guys were. If it wasn't for those shows, I wouldn't have bought Sonic 2 some years later & become a full-fledged Sonic fan in the process.

Unfortunately I seem to be the only one who still looks at this club, but the entire fanbase for Sonic is dead. Seriously, it's almost nonexistent. What's left has moved to SonicRetro.

Anyone posting in this thread now is poking a dead horse. It might as well be locked.

Nice generalizing there, jackass. You're just as bad as the ones that DO whine. I could care less about the games right now (Although Sonic 4 and Colors look good) but I do like the comics, or at least the ones now.

Well, it's been a minute, now that 1 version of Sonic 4 is released, it seems that things have picked up.

The Sonic fanbase is very much alive, just not very much in this thread.

I've learned a lot in my time of being around a lot of Sonic fans, I've come to hate this fanbase for completely different reasons than one would assume. Quite frankly it's so obvious, but it's shrouded in the accusations behind yiff nerds, weeaboo fangirls and authors of terrible fan fiction, although they do exist, they are but a minority and really don't stand to be a valid reason.

The fanbase is divided into three factions.
The first faction, classic fans; are the people who practically worship the classics and nothing else. They do extensive research on the classic games and know them well enough and emulate them in a fangame. These people hate Sonic 4, the physics and inertia is what kills it for them. They aren't like the classics. The homing attack is also met with hatred. I tend to call these retro "purist", they are by definition, after all. Retro purists ironically come off as the most immature, insensitive and emotionally spastic users I've talked to, and they're the older crowd. They bash on other opinions and lack reserved judgment, manifested from their lack of trust in Sega.

The second faction, modern fans; are the younger kids who play and enjoy the modern games. These are where most of the typical NG accusations come from, but this faction is more respectable, they like the games and really won't flip out of someone else disagrees, they also defend Sonic 4 passionately. It's a safe bet to call this group "fanboys", but I've come to appreciate the company of them, even though they lack reserved judgment when it comes to Sonic 4 (and Sonic Colors), they are more optimistic, and optimism never hurts.

The last faction, and the minority, the all around fans; I like to consider myself in this faction, from what I've seen (not from observing myself), this group of people seem to be the unheard voice of reason, most people I met who classify in this faction are calm, cool and funny. Overall enjoyable people to talk to. We may not like all the games, but we do enjoy both classic and modern games, these people actually are optimistic about Sonic 4, but we won't defend the game shamelessly. We have reserved judgment and although we look forward to enjoying the game, we save our final word--until next week actually. :)

I'm hosting a release party for console Sonic 4, it will be a 3 day event where participants play the classics, myself included, and we top it off with Sonic 4, and with other side events of fan games and other playthroughs of Sonic 4.

In other news, Sonic 4 has been out for 2 days now on the Iphone. And on the Sega forums, it has a fine mix of positive, negative and mostly 'okay' reviews about the game. The game has received plenty of updates to make it more enjoyable, even aesthetically. All of these changes are not in the Iphone version, which is basically the E3 build.
Lots of drama going on.

...

Just figure that I pop in and see how you guys are doing, still on life support it seems.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I first got involved in Sonic fandom in 2002/2003 but gradually began to distance myself because a lot of Sonic fans are also furries or other fetishists. (Example.)

I never understood those people, though I've run into them wherever I've been (even here on NG).

I started out this way, but have come to distance myself once again because the others in this category can be absolute fucktards in the face of a bad game. They're the kind of hyper-fans who will White Knight for Sega no matter what atrocity they commit, and I can't stand those.

This is where I stand now. I haven't bought a Sonic game in years (primarily because of the 4Kids debacle) so I haven't contributed much to the overall community.

Just figure that I pop in and see how you guys are doing, still on life support it seems.

Yup, we're still lurking in the shadows. We don't have much to talk about these days.

On a side note, I've come to believe that Ryan Drummond may have committed suicide. His website and official Myspace haven't been updated since early 2008, and there haven't been any statements or announcements regarding his whereabouts in a long time: no acting roles, no gigs, no nothing.

Glad to see ya' back. Believe it or not, ironically, things picked up slightly right after you resigned..........although it died back down again quickly enough. But that's mostly just the usual 'calm before the storm' that occurs when waiting for new game releases.

Most of us have finally warmed up to Sonic Colors for the most part after seeing the gameplay trailers - it seems Sonic Team put some effort into this one, possibly even more that Unleashed. Just two things that we aren't particularly thrilled over: (1) That stupid song, and (2) Sonic's new VA. Otherwise, it looks worth the money.

Ahem...........regarding the 3 types of fans..................that's basically what Agg said a while back.........so do ya see what he's been saying now? Although I'll admit, most of our reserved judgment has been lacking for a while, but really, after The Black Knight Fiasco, can ya really blame us?

There's a blog article that Blaze linked to a few pages ago that best sums up what I'm trying to say in a very sensible manner...........hang on a sec.........fuck, I can't get the link to load correctly anymore..............Blaze, y'know what I'm talking about, right? Can you find the article again, because the previous link keeps resetting the damned connection.....

From the audio clips of Craig, in the description it states he most likely won't sound like this in the actual game. I've seen gameplay videos (With English voices, you can clearly make out Robotnik speaking) and Craig didn't sound half bad there.

And yes, the song is shit. Autotune and a little gay. I could deal with the Unleashed main theme which I actually liked better than the shitty Crush 40 songs (I'm sorry, but they suck. Cheesy lyrics, cheesy 80s guitar riffs, and the singer sounds like he's trying too hard at being Jack Black or something.) but this is just horrible. Obviously catering to the new age of autotuned Justin Bieber pop stuff.

Ahem...........regarding the 3 types of fans..................that's basically what Agg said a while back.........so do ya see what he's been saying now? That fan division is incredibly biased. Little kids don't even count as fans because they like it just for it being Sonic. It's not that they are the only ones that see positive stuff about the games, it's just for the fanbase liking the Sonic series because it appeals to them (Talking animals, and shipping wars).

Also, Black Knight isn't really what started it, what really started it was Sonic 06. Honestly, if Sonic 06 had never been in development, there'd be less shit happening between the community.

It's really annoying................................
........................................
when you keep on doing this. And you don't have to type as though you're being put on the spot. You could've deleted that entire section between "manner" and "Blaze".

SonicRetro is down anyway because of Sonic 4 being out. There's probably a riot in their forums right now.

Well, granted, that one video I heard had him talking like a retard, so I'll give him a pass until I hear actual in-game clips.

Frankly, I think Heroes started it, but that's only because I hold a grudge for them flushing Chaotix down the toilet. Overall, though, yeah, 06 was the major factor.
