I wouldn't leave for a reason like that. If I thought the music sucked then I might leave but I wouldn't leave if I could tell that the band were giving it their best attempt.

Thank you, you've inspired me to give it my best shot.
Unless you go really bad off tune, most people will sit it through. Just do your best.
I wouldn't interrupt your performance or anything, and I certainly wouldn't talk like you were the worst person ever just because you accidentally sung out of key once. But I would still have a great respect for the fact that you went and sung in front of a large crowd.
I wouldn't have the guts to do that kind of thing.

No. To me, that would be very disrespectful.
If the singing was bad, I would sit and think about something pretending I'm paying attention.
I wouldn't walk away.... In the meantime try to drink lots and lots of tea with honey and don't talk! Your friends and family will understand. Just don't talk. I had a theater musical and I lost my voice the day before! But doing the same as what I said to you helped me a lot and in the end I didn't have a problem, but you really shouldn't talk, and if you need to whisper. Whispering is less vibrating and thus less destructive for your voice
You've fucked the lyrical reference up. He says, "What would you do if I sang out of tune,/ would you stand up and walk out on me?/ Lend me your ears and I'll sing you a song/ and I'll try not sing out of key."
If you're seriously asking for advice though, add feeling. If you're jumping around a lot and trying to make the show visually entertaining, people might understand if your voice isn't loud, clear, and on pitch.

A technique seemingly used by every major artist these days.

Yea. Personally, I hate it. Stop flailing and ease the rape my ears are being subjected to, please. But I'm assuming he's trying to appeal to the masses here. And the masses are foolish and easily amused by slapstick-esque actions.

Now, if you can combine awesome music with an awesome stage show, then you're good.
