America has tornadoes and hurricanes... :(
For fuck's sake, nothing geologically interesting ever happens in the south west.
Apart from how radioactive the moors are...

stop substituting fear for reason
You guys are pussies...
I have experienced 4 already since last October in California... and I was in San Jose when the Big One happened in 1989.
And we're due for another big one... soon.

heh, I'm glad I'm not alone in thinking things like this
come on i live in england quite close to were it happened (hull) and i diddent even wake up so it can't have been as bad as you people make it out to have been
Holy shit, yeah I felt that earthy bastard. I was gonna go straight on NG and make a thread about it but I went back to sleep instead.
Basically at about 12:55 AM this morning, the whole house started shaking pretty violently for about three seconds. My sister was almost in tears about it. About 30 minutes before the earthquake I'd heard the sound of some stuff falling over downstairs, so maybe they were really minor trembles or something before the big thing.
Nobody would've got hurt, but it was still pretty crazy. Something I've never experienced before.
My dad came into my room and told me to turn my fucking music down, and then proceeded to turn my light on and walk out.
Weirdo

That's true. Why do people who experience earthquakes get so excited? We should be fearing the potential power of earthquakes, not get excited!
I got one down here in Bedfordshire. I remember a tiny one that lasted a few seconds at what I think was around half past eleven, then I was woken up by another, larger one at around one-ish. Nothing fell off of anything for me, though!
I only heard about this a few hours ago, I didn't feel it at all.
I felt it, and i'm about 10 miles south of Cambridge. I was awake at the time, because my sleeping pattern is fucked, but it woke my dad up
Yep happened in Scotland, Wales and England....I live in the Uk Wolverhampton...I slept through it but some people at school felt it though!

yeah but like earthquakes for us are a novelty =D
we know that they arent going to do any serious damage, but theyre pretty fun and do scare you abit at the time

My parents felt it but I sleep through anything and missed it. All the earthquakes we have in England are always at 2 in the morning.
Oh and I live in Derbyshire too, yay!
I was making some sandwiches at the time but didn't feel it. I must have been too far away.
I'm from Kent, quite near London.
Good sandwiches though!
