So here I was, listening to some Led Zeppelin, when I wondered: what is the best guitar solo ever?
Strong contenders include Free Bird, Sweet Child O Mine, One, Hanger 18 or Through the Fire and the Flames (best IMO)

This thread was about guitar hero as soon as the first post was made.
Well through the fire and flames is great but it's almost like they took a great solo and hit the fast forward button. I'm probably just saying this because I'm a drummer but fast doesn't always mean good. Still it did make the crazy bits where they slowed down 80 times cooler.
Communication Breakdown's great. The Ocean's solo is good just because it's well written, it reminds you of earlier parts of the song. Also I can't believe no one has mentioned Stevie Ray Vaughen or Jimi Hendrix.

Also I really think Stairway to Heaven has a great solo. I hate it when people say I'm just trying to act all cool when I say this, even though I really like the solo. It just fits the song.
