This club is to be devoted to any members of a marching or concert band on newgrounds. Anyone is welcome AS LONG as you can prove your in a marching band.

I'll be posting various marching related news on my user page, so as soon as you become a member, look there for updates.

Also, please no flaming.

You need to set up rules, as well as a main purpose for this club.

Good luck on it though, hope it works out for ya.

I'll join, but I tried a marching band before and just got directed to the freakin' instrument club. It was bullshit.

Proof: I'm the fat fuck in the mid-left side. I'm wearin a doo-rag thing cuz my hair's too long, and I'm holding a marching euphonium.

just in case the pic ain't enough.

Your in! Nice uniforms, by the way. Whats's ur school?

Also, too anyone else, proof can be anything. Naming different maneuvers like traverse and what not, but a picture is just as good.

We're the fuckin' Pride of Potomac! 13 year Honor Band, WOOHOO!

/school spirit

Yeah, we're PSHS, around Dumfries, Virginia, in the good ol' US. I like the uniforms too, that was our warmup just before VBODA, I think...Not sure, cuz I snatched it off the band website n___n

Cool. We're the Marysville Marching Monarchs. Marysville OH, that is.

And that's Monarch as in "king", not "butterfly". That'd be pretty fruity.

There WAS a club exactly like this, but I have no idea why it was deleted.

I'll join. I used tobe in marching band, and am currently in Wind Ensemble and Jazz Band in my school.

Response to Band Geeks Club 2008-02-21 17:34:38

Cool! What school?

High school. I shouldn't give the name.

Response to Band Geeks Club 2008-02-21 19:22:57

That's cool. So what are you playing in Wind Ensemble?

Response to Band Geeks Club 2008-02-21 19:29:22

I'll join. I play clarinet in the marching and concert band and tenor sax in the jazz band. I am also involved with the county honor band, county honor jazz band and youth orchestra.

Here's me in uniform, but I didn't have my hair tied back.

Our field show was this russian theme thing. Two russian folks songs and a song by Shostakovitch. There was also a drum solo in which the entire band goes through a tent and comes out wearing out new uniforms (we just got them this year). The entire show was a bitch to learn and execute, and looked (and sounded) like shit because half the band is made up of freshmen, we're a tiny band to begin with (class 1A, about 40 people, no colorguard) and we're just bad. marching band is not our strong suit, but we're not too shabby in concert. the freshmen aren't necessarily bad musicians, but they were bad marchers and bad memorizers.

so that's the band in a nutshell.

Response to Band Geeks Club 2008-02-21 19:46:51

:P, sounds like us this year. Our show was called " A night at the symphony", and was also pretty hard to learn. We're a large band of about 175 members, and up until this year, we dominated. We were bad all year, and the only good performance we gave was our finals, which we completely pulled out of our asses.

Response to Band Geeks Club 2008-02-21 20:14:38

this year sucked for us. We only got to go on one band trip, as the other was cancelled due to the wild fires in southern california. I think a lot of freshmen got the wrong impression of band and that's kinda upsetting. last year was a whole lot more fun. we went on four trips instead of one.

Fortunately though, in a couple months we'll be having two trips.

Before this lub gets deleted, make some nice rules. And here's a list of what you should stop doing.

1- Stop saying cool.
2- After saying "cool!", stop asking for peoples schools. Does it even matter? Have you given your school? Are you a petaphile? Are you going to google seid school, find it, and bomb the school of which you have just have googled?

That's just me.
I feel like a backseat modder now...I think I'll stop now.

America. Ghettos. Walmart. NFL. Internet. Slavery. Starbucks. Disney World. Porno. Fake tits. Sushi. Taco Bell. Rodeo. Christmas. Pop-Eye. Books. Sportsmanship. Fuck yeah.

Next year will probably be worse for us. Our district failed to pass a levy, so the price to be in band will shoot up. I think we're going to be a lot smaller next year. Plus we won't have the money to go on any more trips.

Response to Band Geeks Club 2008-02-21 22:42:41

We're kinda tiny, too--just about 80 people. I'm kinda disappointed about next year, though--see, this year we have four Euphoniums;

me, a talented freshman (yes, they do exist XP),
and then a Junior who's about my level because she just started Eupho about a year or two ago, another Junior who's about even with me,
and a Senior who's the fucking pwnage.

Next year, we lose one of the Juniors, the Senior, and maybe me, cuz I might move.

So basically low brass will suck ass.

But our show this year owned pretty wickedly.

We had the whole Latin Nightclub theme going great with Children of Sanchez, a nice fast-ish piece with a grand beginnig to kick things off,
then Itchano, a moderate piece with a wicked speed up in the middle-endish part.
Then came a small excerpt from The Land of Make-Believe with a fucking awesome duet between the Senior Eupho and the Tenor Sax section leader,
and then Malaguena, a magnificient fast piece with solos across the board...

And so, I fell in love with Marching Band.

Oh i definitely believe you. i was first chair in the honor band last year. this year we didn't get enough time to practice our music and i was cocky and didn't work too hard, and so i got 2nd chair. oh well, it's all music.

As far as losing your euphs, i totally feel you. Last year we had three horns. One was Zach, a very very talented senior who was basically our god. We'd go to him if we had a vocab question we didn't know, a musical question, or just life advice. Then we had Lily, who is currently a Junior. She wasn't fantastic, but she was good, and very pretty. She the heartthrob of a few band members, including myself. Then there was Stephen, an intermediate player but very friendly. Zach graduated, Stephen didn't sign up for band this year, and Lily quit after marching season this year. Now we have no horns, and this makes us sad. There is hope yet, as next year we'll have two or three freshmen who play it. I think the band is going to be bigger next year, if as many frosh as this year join.

Malaguena is fucking sick. The cadets (a drum and bugle corps) did it one year, and it's amazing.

I'm in concert band, pep band, marching band, and Jazz II. We wear uniforms for concert and marching band, they're really schweet. They have trousers and the hats and poofs and everything.

Holy fucking CHristcakes, that was awesome! And wow, there's so many different versions of Malaguena out there! This year, we were beaten for first at most competitons by a band fro Lee Davis--and they had Malaguena as their headliner, too! Pissed the sit outta us.

Dentatus, I know what you mean, sorta-kinda. Our horn section is kinda weak this year, but looks like it's gonna improve.

So, more stories. My sister, now in college, was the Drum Major last year, as well as a smashing clarinet. Now that she's ou and I'm in, everyone exspects something legendary out of me, the Director included. It kinda sucks, but I almost appreciate (almost) all the exspectations.

Yeah, I don't think anyone else in my family has been in band, except my dad, who was a snare. Of course, that was in the sixties when they didn't do field shows.

Also, our mellows are going to be in a sad state next year. One senior and the rest will be freshman and sophomores.

Well, right now for concert band (performance in less than a week), we play Penny Lane, Pop Culture, Armida Overture, and America the Beautiful. For pep band, we have a huge collection of songs from the 60's-80's (Twist and Shout, Wipeout, We Got The Beat, Smoke On The Water, etc). The theme for marching band changes yearly but last year we played Beth, Rock and Roll All Nite, and Shout it Out Loud by KISS. Jazz II's songs are Blues in Hoss Flat and Inside out.

Oh yeah, here's a video of the pep band playing "Working in the Coalmine" at a home basketball game. The tuba/cowbell dance is traditional to our town. I'm not in the video btw.

Oh my God, that is SO awesome!

When I used to do marching band, the tuba/bass instrument sections would dance. That means I would dance.
