Who do you think is the most unappreciated director ever? I think it's Mel brooks. He has at least 4 hilarious movies that are too unpopular. I'm glad Young Frankenstein was made into a play.

However, for the thread's sake, I'm going ot have to go with Martin Scorcese. Yeah, he's famous, and his movies are enjoyed by lots of people, but he lost the oscar what, two, three times? Ordinary People was good, but Raging Bull was better. Same goes for Goodfellas, though I can't quite remember what beat that :$

I will probably have to say Robert Zememkis. He has done so much for special effects and has made many great movies. Howver, most people dont know him.
