Mental. Do you have Games workshop in America? It's basically a really nerdy place for young lads to waste ther emoney on. They have some stuff that i'm sure would be useful, for example paint, spray paint, model grass/gravel etc. There's some really impressive models and scenes made by people using them too.

If I remember right they made a bigger models version of it too. I've forgotten what that's called though.

Wicked thing you're making, good luck.

Is there any particular reason you made mindchamber blue?

Or is it just 'cause it looks cool?

As mogly mentioned, there was a couple people who recommended Warhammer paint ... i heard the only drawback to em is that it has a limited colorpalette. Senti used that gunmetal on his Wzl if i recall.

Yeah I think there is few colours. But you're sposed to mix em too. They are all named like 'UltraMarine BLue' or 'Goblin green' so you can find what you want.

WARNING. They are pricey.

They have this really cool paint, I don't remember the name but it is a liquid. It basically sets in the cracks of the model and gives them a really nice effect. When I was 12 I loved it because it makes it look like you can paint really well.

sounds good, I was planning to use the paint I have left from my munny, which is called "Folkart" which from what I can tell is pretty similar. if you can remember the name of that paint Ill look into it.
theres this oxidizing bronzer paint I plan to get as well to show some age on the damaged parts of mindchamber.

Lol- I remember buying those...I noticed they shut down the games workshop I used to go to though...I must have spent £200 pounds there...oh well.
I seem to remember certain colours like 'snot green' and 'bestial brown'
and yes they are pricey-they also dry up if you leave them (even with the lids on) for a few months,
I tend to buy Enamel paint from craft stores-mucho cheaper.
(still waiting for their new shipment of matt white to arrive so I can finish that lego tankmen)

We're talking about inks, right?

Inks and Empty Paint Pot:

Citadel Colour Inks are just the thing for shading your basecoats, just thin down the ink with a little water and paint on the miniature. The ink will flow into all the folds and crevices - instant shading....

The games are basically 40,000, Warhammer (medievil style) and the LOTR shit, but there's also miniature aspects of those like the blood bowl and mordenheim or necromandia and like inquisitor

Yeah and it's a pretty popular thing to get into so you can probably find the paints, glue, primer and flock in most hobby or comic stores- But if you can find a games workshop near-by It's always better to go to the source.

you can also order everything online here and if you're interested unique models from here

Yeah, I used Warhammer paints. I had about 30 left over from my minature model painting days so I just used what I had instead of buying more. But yeah, be warned, they are definitely expensive.

Someone earlier also mentioned using the inks. Those are real cool for shadows and darker recessed areas. You'd probably use a dark blue or black ink wash I'd think. Basically, how I used them was you paint your whole model, ink it, then dry brush over the entire thing again to pick up the highlights and stuff.

I'll snag some pictures of the old models I used to paint, I would spend hours on something that was less then two inches high. COOL HUH?

I see you yanked off one of Unicron's arms.
But it also looks like his legs are missing in that picture.
I'm sure we all hate Unicron for his atrocities against the universe, but physical torture is really just going to far.

Wow, this thing is coming out beautifully! Heh, maybe you can make Mind Chamber shoot those little plastic missiles you find in transformer toys? I can't wait to see it finished!

X-Acto is just a brand of hobby knives. The fact that it may be an x-acto doesn't mean it's not a hobby knife.

I enjoy bold statements

Citadel paints also come with a decent base coat, its in a spray can, but it doesn't clump or build up on itself. The coverage is nice and even. There are however only about 3 colors of it, "chaos black", "skull white" and a Grey one if i remember correctly. The nice thing about the base coats, is you can create decent highlights just by spraying the model once.

Citadel paint color chart. Just in case you hadn't found it yourself, there is also a link on the page for the ink color charts.
