Are you going to be sending the clay model off to be cast in PVC once it's finished? That would be quite lovely.

super sculpey, whatever that is. I just order the grey firmer one, cause this stuff is worse than playdo.

anyways, got started on the left thigh and right leg.

the left leg was baked, and is ready to be carved now. it'll have to wait till I finish, with my heavy Metal submission

Crud, you're entering? Well... I'll just have to beat you.

Fantastic work on your botty, looks very cool. Not particularly fond of the curl pattern on his leg, though. 4.8/5

the curl pattern will be carved down to a bevel... but yeah this is a really old robot so hi has little embroideries that you would normally see on a steam engine.

Ah right, okay. Yeah, I have nothing against actually having little curls. I just didn't think it looked neat, but you've explained that you're gunna carve it down, so I'll see what happens. Looking forward to seeing your entry to the comp.

I used this for the legs and arms.
Sculpey

but I was told to get the pro stuff for the chest and head since the details need to be more intricate.

good stuff... i like the pistons on his calfs ... didnt think you could replicate those so well in clay.

Are you going to use actual metal pieces at all? i vaguely remember senti's steampunk munny had like little springs or something...

Firm Clay

i was told by my friend who does ceramics kind of stuff, and he recommended using Primo, which hardens to like a plastic and doesn't shrink in baking, and it comes in colors, so i can mix it to the same color as the munny (like a pastel pink, bought it that way, i'm using that color). Have you used Primo? Just wondering if that would work, because then i can just make it the same color.

Wow nice work, Mindchamber. Say, are you going to put that in the NG office when it's finished or are you going to keep it?

Thanks... I bought a bionicle kit for the joints, and have found some other pieces to be really useful.

like the pistons they have, have avery strong suction and hold alot of weight, so now Im replacing the pistons on the thighs with the ones from the kit. whats cool is now not only does it actually work, but it will actually hold up the robots waist as well.

theres also some tubing and other pieces that work really well with my robot.

the legs are all connected and fully poseable..
aside from some serious sanding and details to be added, its basically done.

Excellent work mate.
I love how you used those pistons from the other set.
Can't wait to see the end product.

I have pretty much never sculpted properly myself. If I were to make a leg, arm or any limb how should I start - in a very basic way? Like If I had all the clay and tools, where should I start?

Thanks for any advice you may give.

Im kinda the last person to ask really haha. this is basically my first real attempt. (the muny wasn't as big) basically from what Ive read online, you need to start with a wireframe pad it out then start layering clay over it till you get the desired effect.
theres great tutorials on this site,

This is coming out amazing! You make it sound and look piss easy, but i doubt it is. I´d like to sculpt something one day but i don´t know where to get all this special clay and stuff.
