Aww man I always wanted to create an action figure for my characters but never knew how. I looked it up before but it involved poisonous plastics and stuff.
But anyways I got a couple of questions .
-How did you make the plastic part in the center of his chest?
You never told us where u got that piece from.
and
-How did you make the chest hollow? Did you just carve it out or did you put clay over something?
This project is soo cool it makes me want to cop some sculpey and try it out.

It was from one of the larger sets of bionicles, forgot which set but it was a plastic ball that came with some bombs or something and I cut the ball in half to fit in the chest

I rolled up a huge ball of aluminum foil and put clay over it, once it was hardened I was able to just pull the foil right out.
This project is soo cool it makes me want to cop some sculpey and try it out.
everyone should, probably the 2nd easiest way to make your own figures, (kitbashing being the first)
Man this is awesome, I have sev packs of sculptey ands stuff and some abillity for it, have done some small "vinyl toy"-like figures and some other grotesque sculptures but now that I see this you inspire me to go further on and experiment using toy parts and metals, bolts and stuff. I'll make a thread like this one day and try to create something cool too....I love that you are including lights, this is coming out much better than what I thought, and those springs do add the ++ of sweetness. So nice of Wade to help with the lights, they are so rad, are they like leds? Dang, wade should post up some electronics-light management tutorial maybe with some basics....ou know :p Thanks for doing the thread it's cool to see how far you've got, but it is as expected from you, you always plan and finish big projects and such.
looks like not only the center of the chest was made from bionicle but a few other things here and there haha.. pretty cool idea MindChamber. Hope everything works out for you.. maybe even potentially the action figures for sale?? (yes i know it would take a lot of time and such :P)

haha I doubt it would be made into a toy, and if it ever is, Im not sculpting it :-p
anyways the base colors are done, thru in some metal highlights here and there, and plan to add more highlights and use a marker to etch out more details as best as I can, after that a tiny coat of gloss on certain parts. and I think that will be a wrap.
Now that does look great, might I say. Well worth the time, as well.
Can't wait for it to be ultimately finished, but I think I can safely say this already:

You might try getting some brown or copper metallic paint and dabbing a little bit at the seams to give it a worn look, like the robot has been around the block a few times. Also an Acryllic high gloss sealer brushed on and buffed will give it more of a glossy metallic look too (also works well on plaster).

wow, this turned out pretty fucking amazing, did a really good job.
I finished that munny i had drew out plans for a little bit ago, doesn't really look like a munny anymore though, it's just weird, i'll let you know when i get pictures of it posted
and i just bought a bigger munny, and i just want to paint on it, what kind of paint do you suggest? I have bunch of acrylic, but is there anything else that might work better?

same shot different angle with head turned,.
mixed a dark blue with a chrom-ish silver, so at certain angles he gets bluer which is cool.
hey mindchamber, I saw on the first picture you had, it was its foot, appeared to be clay, what kind is it? Looks nice. Hope you dont have to answer this 1,000 times, or have answered it 999 times already.
