Yes, even a list can crash IE6, source, also here's a video.Yes, I know a lot of those are old and have been patched already, but I still thought it was interesting. Happy browsing.
Interesting find, it's kind of pathetic how something so simple can crash IE6.
hello
Thats why IE7 was made.
Instead of dwelling on it, let's suck it up and wait for it to blow over

I've heard a nasty rumour that microsoft is going to force an update to IE7 in the same way they updated windows update. IE7 is a definite improvement over IE6, I'll admit, but I still don't appreciate software updating itself without my permission.
Also there have been some previews about IE8 released over the past few months; supposedly it is going to introduce a third rendering mode (on top of strict and quirks) that can be turned on by a special tag in the html. This will render the html using the w3c standard box model.
Personally I think this is a stupid idea; they could just use the doctype for this. In fact its for situations like this that it was invented. Adding yet more proprietry crap to html markup is stupid.
Sufficiently advanced incompetence is indistinguishable from malice.

I wouldn't mind that at all.
Would save having to develop for two different versions of the same browser.
IE8 will use a meta tag for proper rendering mode. They're already using the doctype in IE7 :P
You see, it's this way:
- Ugly page -> IE6
- Doctype -> IE7
- Doctype + meta tag -> IE8

I can't update to IE7 since I'm still on Windows XP SP1.
I'm going to get a new comp this year, but no vista for me, no siree bob. I'm content with Opera though, and IE6 for a few websites that are plugin extensive and make Opera crash.
Fuck firefux.

True, and though I agree everyone should use IE7 you shouldn't be allowed to force people to use it.

You know more than anyone how much I'd like IE6 to blow over, but let's face it, it's not going to happen for a while. Forcing updates to IE7 still won't completely get rid of it (older versions of Windows, etc). Despite the fact IE7 has been launched, IE6 is still a major player, as shown below

Any reason not to switch to SP2, or do you just enjoy having a computer with hundreds of vulnerabilities?
They should include IE7 on all the new copies of XP. The reason most people still use IE6 is because they're idiots that don't know how to download IE7 or Firefox.
Those are the same people who think that cookies are viruses.

wtf aren't cookies virusses? so i went totally crazy for freaking nothing?!?! no joke of course, i mean an auto updater would be good too freaking kill all those ugly old browsers, i mean we all have to agree that IE 6 is totally freaking shit thats why FF 2 and IE 7 are ten times ( i know alot more ) better and there are many more ways to crash IE 6, because it's one crash.

Yeah, and SP2 so does not have hundreds of vulnerabilities?

You have no idea wtf you're talking about. Cookies are not viruses (tracking cookies are considered to be "spyware" though). They normally store user information though.
There is an auto updater for XP if you set the updates to run automatically. I happened to have stopped mine when the IE 7 update ran where I just didn't install the update. However, I upgraded to IE 7 about a month and a half ago.
uhm... yeah i know and IE 6 isn't good and the cookies part was a joke?

You don't actually mean that, do you?
There's a reason service packs exist... It's just retarded not to update when the update is costless.
sorry this is again off topic i think, LOL i loved that comment, i'm sure we in netherland all updated everything if everybody knew it was free! xD
Well what if you couldn't update? Back when I tried to install SP2 on my old computer, it would finish halfway, and then it would have an error. I tried everything. Re-downloading, reformatting, reinstalling XP, but it still didn't work. And I had a genuine copy of XP, too. So I gave up, and still to this day, my old computer has SP1.

I never said I wrote it, I merely reposted it here because many of the people on this forum will find it amusing and/or interesting.
