i use frame-by-frame about 90% of the time. to block out a scene, i usually draw the character in his extreme poses, or keyframes. then i in-between those, starting with where the head would be. then i go back and do the arms, body, and legs, beacuse they are all doing their own thing. a big mistake people make is either 1) go straight ahead into the animation (start at frame 1 and go 2, 3, 4..etc) and 2) think in-betweening only means to draw what you think is the middle movement between the two poses. it's not always the case, depending on how fast the body is moving, what curve it's on, and which body parts are pushing and which are dragging. its' a really complicated process, but if you study traditional animation you will learn all these things. thanks for the message
