Do you think the kid deserved it or do you think the cop was abusing his power? I would go with the latter.
The part of me that hates cops says "fuck that pig," but the part of me that hates skater punks says, "he should have used the tazer."

since when have majority of police officers NOT abused their powers
tbh most of them think their above the law =\
"SIT DOWN I'M NOT A DUDE!"
"Call me dude one more time..."
"I'm not man, I'm not dude. I am officer Riviairy. The sooner you learn that, the longer you're going to live in this world...'Cose you go around doing this kind of stuff, somebody's going to kill you".
That's right children, if you forget the police officer is not a man but a "officer Riviairy", you're going to get murdered.
This too will pass.

Kids need to learn to stand up to their rights.
One of the first things my dad did once I was old enough to understand was teach me my rights in an encounter with police.
wow, I thought I met cops that were huge dicks. Ive seen kids act alot worse around cops without them freaking out.
what can I say
exactly, a police officer has no right to tazer you for exercising your right of freedom of speech

There's a difference between harassment and free speech.
Free speech has to be limited.
But, yeah.
He sure overreacted.

Then why name it free speech then?
Isn't it called limited speech then?

That fuckin' cop should've had his stupid fuckin' head knocked in.
Goddamn, that prick makes me shitty.

Freedom isn't free.
Lemme be honest, you have certain people saying what they want in certain instances.
IE- FIRE in a crowded movie theater.
If you cross a line, and commit a crime, you should be punished.
Free, until you abuse it.
Yes the cop was abusing his powers especially when he pushed the kid to the ground. A cop should not "lay hands" on people unless they were resisting arrest or are armed and/or dangerous.
All the kid needs to do now is to make a complaint about that cop and submit a copy of that video as evidence.

Maybe, but free normally indicates there is no price. There is a price to pay if you say certain things though like you said.
If you cross a line, and commit a crime, you should be punished.
Free, until you abuse it.
But that's not free. You can only abuse it if there's a line and the idea of free speech I always thought was there was no line. There's no guarantee that the general public wouldn't want to skin you alive, but you are entitled to that speech even if it's wrong.
This too will pass.

Heh, my dad gave me that talk recently.
Also, I would've said something to piss him off like, "tomorrow, I'll be laughing about this and you'll still be a pig"

I simply would have said "Officer am I under arrest? Yes/No? Are you detaining me? Can I leave?". It doesn't matter what he's screaming at me. Unless he's writing me a ticket or putting me in cuffs, I don't have to give them an inch.
The moment he touches me unwarranted (like show in the video) is the moment I take his badge next week in a lawsuit. First thing tomorrow morning I would have been in a solicitor's office trying to take away a couple weeks of his pay.
I honestly don't think that cop would have acted that way if it was an older person. I think he just thought he could get away with that shit because it was a 14 year old kid he was fucking with. Someone younger tends to get intimidated easier unlike someone who is grown. I mean I know people who have got in fights with cops just because the cop was yelling at them imagine if a cop just came up and threw them on the ground when they had no right to do it.

Now that I've thought about it, your idea is better. But I'd still get a laugh at seeing this asshole lose it at some petty-ass insult I make.

agreed, the more we buy into the "freedom until you abuse it" lie the more we willingly give up our rights, because who says where the line is? today the line is in one place tomorrow it may be in another all on the whim of the powers that be. we can never give up our rights to free speech! once we do then we are nothing but slaves to the government.
Using grammar in a forum is like having 22 inch rims. sure its nice and pretty, but its more for showing off than anything else.

You just said yourself a person should "get slapped around by the angry mob" for saying that. I would say that is how someone could get hurt. Some things just shouldn't be said in certain situations. It's really not hard to know when you shouldn't say something. Your freedom of speech doesn't mean you get to verbally harass people. If you walk into a police station and scream "Fuck you pigs!" what do you think is going to happen. But if you are on tv and say "I hate cops, I hope they all die." Then that is your right to express your feelings. Freedom of speech and verbal harassment are two different things and anybody with some common sense knows the difference.
