In all seriousness, i have been talking to some people who are not from New Zealand, or are in the Northen Hemisphere, and most of them had no idea where New Zealand actually is. Their excuses was that New Zealand was "like a small pacific island similar to samoa and New Caledonia" and that there was nothing in New Zealand worth knowing about. But come on! there is actually everything in New Zealand that there is almost everywhere in the world.
so... what it all boils down to... Why to people know more about countrys smaller then New Zealand, and is there some sort of evil view about New Zealand for it to be thought about in that way?

actually a DAG named Judge Dredd is from NZ, so I know a little about it. It's an island just north of Australia, famous for its easy going people and it's wool industry, as well as it's liberal government. Last time I checked, you guys had a Rastafaran in Congress.
I have heard no evil rumors, only good things about NZ.

NZ is the Rugby capital of the world, I mean they got the All Blacks and the Maori, two of the worlds best teams. And its a beautiful country from what I hear, rich in cultture and heritage.

You would say that - you're a second row forward...OK, even I don't know what that meant.

Thats quite surprising. Being Welsh most of what I know about New Zealand came from the Lions tours and the Welsh rugby tours (That I try to forget!)
Also we've had New Zealanders stay at your house when they come over to watch the All Blacks in Britain, one even gave me a jersey as a gift which was quite cool.
It seems like a really great country. But then again I don't think there are any really terrible countries in the world.

damn! sum1 beat me to it. ok NZ is dozens of islands but only two are substancial. New Zealanders are called kiwis (our native fat flightless bird)
The Brits arrived after the dutch had been and gone and claimed it for the Great Britain (couldn't be much further, geographically opposite ends of the earth ;) so they had to sign a "fairness" treaty with the native Maori, and even today there is heated debate over who owns what?! (this week is the sea-bed and fore-shore debate -lol)
Those early immigrants had no imagination so they named it after Zeeland in the Netherlands, and called the North Island - North Island, and called the South Island (..you guessed it) South Island. They are occasionally volcanic and so prone to earthquakes (similar to Japan in many respects)
Our Rastafarian MP (member of parliment) was interviewed on primetime TV last nite, and explained that herbs are mentioned in the bible, and furthermore, the World Health Organization state that weed is less harmful than alcohol or tobacco. He said he's a moderate smoker, and so far the local police hav failed to catch him buying his stash, for the simple reason that he doesn't buy his stash :)
Actually, i'm an Aussie who should have stayed in my hometown where weed is already decriminalized. Even Lord-of-the-Rings (a kiwi made film) director Peter Jackson smokes, and you might have noticed weed was shown in the film, just as it also appears in the original book (trilogy). When NZ finally decriminalizes weed (and expunges my criminal record for growing a single home pot-plant) then it will officially be the best country on God's-own green Earth!
*peace*

UPDATE: One Third of NZ doctors have stated in a recent poll that they would like to have the option of prescribing medical marijuana for some patients.
Currently this decision is under governmental review..

OK, usually the quip about being a Virgo works (why is it everyone I'm flippant towards happens to be one anyway?), but now it's getting weird...
