Dear all,
I am not writing to you because I feel the need to tell you how to live your lives, but I am attempting to change your view on it by only offering you the truth. You make choices based on knowledge of what you know and the information that is presented to you, but what if there is certain information that is with held, or just hard to find.
I have this link that I am sending to you. It is a 5 - 8 min documentary, narrated by Alec Baldwin, on why so many people in this world have made the descision to stop eating meat and/or meat related products. I warn you that this video is intense and graphic, but if you are open minded and live your life by searching for the truth of the things, than I recommend you watch it.
Here is the link..
http://www.meetyourmeat.com/
(Click on the large picture of the cow on the right to view the short film)
I would like to hear any comments any of you might have, so feel free to reply back to me.
Thank you for your time,
Maurizio

As I watched this video, a thought came to my mind. That thought was why am I watching a movie about where my food comes from? I really don't care. In fact, I don't want to know where my food comes from. I find that it tastes better when you don't know what's in it. I will never stop eating meat. I don't care how the animals are treated. I don't care if it stays in my colon for fifty years. I don't care. Sure, the animals could be treated more humanely but, at the end of the day, they're still just dumb animals. It's not like we're doing this stuff to dogs and dolphins. They're cows and chickens. There are people living in similar conditions right now, but I don't see Alec Baldwin making a documentary about them. I say we eat Alec Baldwin.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go make myself a bologna sandwich. I love bologna. It's three animals in one generic piece of processed meat. Mmm-mmm good.

Hey Sellout. Not all animals live in these kind of conditions, some people raise their animals in a human environment, its just a select few who raise them like this, and if the people who made this video were so against making this video how come the cameraman didnt rush to save the pig being slammed on the floor. How would they even get a slaughterhouse to let them film this, maybe it was staged, in which case its PETA who abuses animals. All them facy clothes you wear are made by people living in the same conditions, physically abused if they dont work hard enough. Why not make a video about that, sweatshops.

look, i already know how disturbing and disgusting the meat industry is. and i'm not like the people who posted before me. i care. but honestly, my going vegetarian won't make a difference. and i know, you're gonna say 'if all the people who said that went vegetarian, the meat industry would be out of buisness'. the fact is is that it wouldn't. there're just too many people that don't care. so, i'll keep eating meat. instead of going vegetarian, i'd rather become a politician, and pass laws to stop the amount of cruelty to animals. much simpler, much more direct, and a much better chance of suceeding than going vegetarian

Well... I downloaded the film, and watched all of it. Just propoganda. Yes, some animals are kept in those conditions, but most aren't. Don't let the minority ruin it for the majority.

Those animals looked absolutley delicious. I'm going to eat some pork chops right now, this video has gotten my appetite so worked up.
I spent the whole video wondering how much the guys working in the plant made per hour. Damn I wish I worked in a slaughterhouse, that shit looks like fun.

Amen, Funk! We forget the fact that they're animals. They're not entitled to human rights, and to say that all of them are abused before they're slaughtered is pointless. I mean, you realize we wouldn't be here today had a lot of our ancestors not eaten quite a bit of meat to sustain life.

I made it through the chickens. I closed the window after cattle. It got insanely repetitive.
The caption to the video is as follows:
In a moving narration, actor and activist Alec Baldwin exposes the truth behind humanity’s cruelest invention –the factory farm.
Humanity's cruelest invention is the factory farm? I thought that title went to...hmm...the nuclear bomb? Well, shit in my mouth and call me your sister. I suppose we should take our stockpiles of nuclear bombs and detonate them at factory farms, and kill two birds with one stone, so to speak, right?
Meh. Sorry, Sellout. I respect your convictions, but PETA is a waste of time and energy better spent on stopping something WORTHWHILE to EVERY SPECIES, not just those that carnivores choose to prey upon.
Cheers,
ShubNiggurath.

And with that, I'm off to watch Bowling for Columbine.

on a more serious note, there are many religions (such as Islam and Judaism) that believe in only eating humanely killed animals.

HULK SMASH!!!!!!!
My, that damn pig would taste so damn good. Beating it, so it's nice and juicy and tender........ MMMMMMM!!!!!!
Although it wouldn't surprise me one bit if this was a PETA propaganda film. I know a lot of farmers, and NOT ONE treats their animals like this.
Well, off to eat beef ribs, and pork steaks! *YUM*

The funny thing about your counterpoint is that is EXACTLY how the Greeks and Romans felt about that issue. For example, Plato was Socrates's little boy toy (documented).
