Yeah, I don't smoke either, but I agree with you, it does look cool. I don't think taking 10 years off of my life is worth making me look cool, but it does look pretty cool. Cool people smoke too. Spike, Dexter's dad, TANKMEN, even Arnold Schwarzenegger smokes. The long smoking sticks the chicks used in the 30s, or the fat stogies of business men, or my favorite, the bubbling pipe look cool. They just make someone look so manly and intelligent, while rocking in a comfortable chair.

In movies, especially in film noir smoking is essential for adding depth and coolness to the main characters. As you know, characters contribute to the overall atmosphere in a movie as well as the setting camera perspectives etc

But there's nothing cooler in film noir than a character lighten up a sigaret (in a close up of the characters face), inhale and throw the sigaret away in slowmotion.
