Ctsg2 - New And Improved

Alright, so there's been a lot of confusion in the old Continue The Song Game threads. After some discussion, SolidElectro and I have come up with some new rules regarding creating new sections:

- Each one will be 9 bars long - 1 bar for the intro/transition and 8 bars to do your thing. Except for the beginning part, which doesn't need a transition.
- Each section will be rendered into a 44.1 kHz, 16-bit .wav file.
- Each section will be uploaded individually and mixed later. For example...

1) SBB makes an 8-bar intro and uploads it.
2) Rucklo downloads SBB's part and mixes one bar of a transition into the end.
3) He then makes 8 more bars of melody, hopefully leaving the last bar transition-friendly.
4) Before he renders it, he mutes SBB's part so that the only part you hear is his own.
5) He renders the piece down to .wav and uploads it to a place like www.mediafire.com
6) The next person in line downloads Rucklo's section and repeats.
7) When enough parts have been created, Rig downloads them all and mixes them in the correct order.
8) He then renders them all to mp3 and uploads it to NG.
9) People everywhere rejoice, and a new songmaster makes another game.
10) LOL

This process will spare people from uploading 38-meg wav files to mediafire.
Also - uncreative mixes with MagixMusicMaker or Garageband or any other program like that will not be accepted. >:(

Oh, and the tempo for this game is 140. But later games can have whatever tempo the starter wants :P

Do the x's inside the box mean that there done? If so, where can i get my hands on the file?

So, having read the rules, does that mean that, say, Rucklo's part will have 9 measures of silence before his part (as SBB's part will be muted before the render)?

I'm definitely participating in this one. I won't be able to add anything today or possibly tomorrow due to homework, though, so don't add my name on the list quite yet. ;)

I think what's happening is that you only export your part of the .wav
The 15 seconds or so. I think wav file would be the same size with the first part muted as without (I think..?) so only do your 9 bars.

Also, how are the transitions working, with the first game, I simply had a sustained not that blended with the previous part, so in this game, it'd appear that there is 8 bars per part, with the intro to the next one being on the last of the previous. But that kind of didn't work with SBB's and 2nd Editions, so, what's the deal?

You can (and should) cut into the last bar of the previous track with your one-bar transition :)

No it's ok, you start it with a new or just an edited part of your old, that fits the requirements.

I couldn't get a good mix done that easily, so I did tamper a little with SBB's intro. HOWEVER, I did not touch his song, rather added some of his song into the beginning of mine.
I tried to switch key of mine to suit SBB's, but it just sounded like rectal symphonia, so I didn't bother doing that at all. bah.

So, depending on what's OK and what's not, here are three versions. For the one after me, it shouldn't matter, since the ending off my song still is the same (My part is actually 11 bars, the last bar is for the ambience and release to make it a little bit more easy to mix).

Version 1 - SBB's song completley gone.
Version 2 - I nicked the very ending of SBB's song and mixed it into my first two bars.
Version 3 - Completley mixed, with SBB's whole part too. He may not like that his song goes through my stereo-bus effects though, so if it's OK that I do use his part in my part for the intro (which won't trespass on his part at all, only that I used his very last bar in my first part), so if it's OK with him that I use his ending in my intro, version two is the one, providing that it's OK that I use his very last bar in my intro... THAT'S OK THOUGH, ISN'T IT ESSBEEBEEATCH????????? :O:O:O
