Neat reflections you got there. Maybe you should work a bit more on the sword, make it more shiny and stuff. The way it is it looks like plastic. Also, try and make it more magazine-like, instead of DVD booklet-like, if you know what I mean.

Looking really good so far, love the reflections! I don't see any noticeable errors with her yet. As for the finalized image, I recommend having a consistent artistic style - that is, the hair is really detailed down to the strand and very sharp/distinct (particularly where it meets the face), yet the feet area seems rough in coloring with the straps.

On a polished image, unless the style/proportions distinctly deviate from their normal way of drawing, there's really no way to tell that they traced or referenced another picture, unless the artist reveals him/herself. :P

Well it looks like the woman is traced and the sword you just made up, so maybe you should just trace a sword cuz it looks muddy and less defined compared to the woman.

What's up with their mutated arms, legs, and torsos.
The one on the left looks like her arms are drying up and flaking off and like she has a giant cube for a ribcage.
The one on the right has some lumpy legs.

I would say you should stretch the figure lengthwise. It looks like it's been crunched together a little. Also I would consider making her smaller on the page, just because it's kind of distracting to have her so massive in the field of view.
If you do stretch her, while you're at it you could overlap the sword with her fingers or part of her forearm to link them together in the composition. They're strangely separated as it is.

Just some compositional tips, otherwise it looks great.

Not sure it is actually very Heavy Metal. I mean, it is just a chick with a gun so far, where are the aliens or monsters? Where are the crazy robots trying to kill everyone and everything?? It is about time I added something else into the mixture - something fanastical.

I don't think the boobs are big enough yet - they don't even nearly weigh a quarter of her total bodyweight, which is almost definitely a prerequisite for Heavy Metal chicks! :P

My first entry in an art contest! Just thought I'd get some input and see whether or not I'm "barking up the wrong tree" so to speak.

Still not sure what I'm doing with the backdrop, or what she'll be holding in her right hand, I'll get to that later.

And no, the dog is not a photograph, I referenced a photo, but spent a good six hours painting him in.

This is not the spirit dude! Go on, finish it, you might be surprised at how much you can achieve if only you try. And even if the final result is not that good compared to the other entries, what the fuck, at least you tried!! You're better off using your time painting than fapping anyway.
