Well, in keeping with that tradition, here is a warscene I've been working on. I thought that, considering the quantity of time that I put into it, it deserves a whole thread of it's own rather than just sitting and stagnating somewhere in my art-dump thread.
Since the original of this drawing is quite badly damaged... (From my hands scooting over it, smudging the pencilwork and spreading hand-muck all over it)... I will probably be shading this piece on my computer at home.
So, my questions.... What colours do you think would look good? Should I colour it to look like a sunset scene, a midnight scene, or somewhere in between?
Any suggestions, comments and criticisms are welcome.
I would also love for some people to post their own battlescenes in this thread, to show off their work and to (maybe) inspire others.
So, without further ado, here is my battlescene....

Well, first of all, that looks totally badass. It's seriously fucking awesome.
Now, to answer your question. You should go with the midnight battlescene, imo.
The sky would look wicked like link, just without the fireworks - explosions or some shit instead. But the bellowing smoke and red explosions, would make an epic scene with the red light falling on your characters and lighting the battlescene also.
Anyways, that's just my opinion.
Somebody feel bad for me and make me a sig.
If not fuck you.

Ooh, that would be pretty.... With anti-aircraft flak instead of fireworks, it would look especially epic...
But I guess that might mean I'd need to draw one or two aircraft... Or spaceships in extreme-low-orbit....
Hmm. I'm getting ideas here....

Very nice, mate...
I particularly like the softened colours and the feeling of distance that the tapering road gives.
Kinda gives the impression that they have a very long way to go....
But what's with the green skin on the officer (I'm assuming he's an officer, since he appears to be shouting orders)

Woah, great picture! Nice scenery, and so much detail too . . . can't imagine what it would look like with color . . .
nice lineart there. the detail is impressive :D
about coloring, if I were you i wouldnt overpower the picture, keep it subtle, relatively omogeneous and avoid too much contrast, except in the foreground, (expecially where the two "leaders" are) just to keep the attention on the main part of the piece, without getting distracted and overwhelmed with all the details.
personally i would go with nightime, and mess about with all the different light sources, like the gunfire, or the flames in the background...
anyway, I hope I see how it turns out.
