Ok I think the censoring of sertent words is going to far.

Some words make sense like fuck and shit, but now they are censoring words like Jesus Christ out.

What the fuck is going on.

Jesus Christ being considered "bad" isn't something new... it's probably that the various "Waves" of bad language have just recently reached you. Language changes.. and in 60 years "fuck" might not be considered bad at all.

Ask yourself this.
"Why is FUCK so incredibly bad?".
How does mom and dad and teachers saying so make it bad.... Just because they say so?.

With television it's a touchy subject. Since we have public air waves you should assume on those you would have the same respect as a billboard on the freeway. If you're going to offend 20% of the people who see it, probably not a good idea to allow it. Cable and other forms are private networks you pay for access and should have no censorship aside from the individual networks standards. Hell if disney channel wants to play a double feature of showgirls and debbie does dallas in prime time I see no problem with that.

I agree, completely. The idea of censorship expands far beyond the use of colorful words. It also involves images that may seem offensive such as posters or artwork in some cases.
Anyway...yeah "they" seem to be a bit too uptight about what goes on.

If the government were to censor any one word, no matter the meaning and no matter the reason why, there would be a precedent set that any word at all could be censored for the benefit of the government.
As for media, if they want to I guess but if they bleep it out or use an alternative, but 99% of us know what they really meant to say and thus it has little effect.

Censorship ruins everything. Manhunt 2 on the wii is completly censored to the point that you can't even see any of the gore.

You can find some more exaggerated examples of censorship from the episode of Family Guy where Peter gets his on TV channel.
