for a quick fix wrap a towel around the xbox and leave it on for 10 minutes. itll work for about three days, but thats how long it takes for the box microsoft sends you

i took your suggestions, moved the ps3/wii, set it on its side, even did the towel thingy. it was green for about 2 mins, started up bioshock, an not even 3 seconds into the game, it froze again. so, shit. i dunno what else to do other than smash it concidering my warranty is done.

Xbox sucks. It overheats, PLUS it's a console made by microsoft. play with a different console, m'kay?

Hmm, I thank God I haven't recieved the Ring of Death. Doesn't putting it sideways vent hot air from both sides keeping it from over heating?

my friend has an x-box and i wanna kill it cos it keeps me awake when i stay over. sounds like an asthmatic granny. i don't think putting it on its side would make a difference. the main reason they overheat is cos

a. the components aren't all properly compatible
b. they suck in dust and it clogs the fan.
c. they suck. period. get a ps3 :D

the only thing that you can do to prevent the immanent death of your x-box is keep it in a cooler place with nothing obstructing it. and check it for dust alot

I can't help you, UPS is collecting my 360 tomorrow, the GPU has failed in my 360.

Phone microsoft, I did about a week or 2 ago, mine came in 3 days ago, now me and my brother keep playing Mass Effect, Turok, and Halo 3.

Just do what I did. Buy another one.

Why buy another one when you can call Microsoft, tell them the code thinger on the back of the 360, and then tell them all this shit, they send you a box, you send the box in to Microsoft, wait about 1 week, get a brand new working 360.

Or you can spend like, 300 - 500 dollars on a new console, up to you.

I had all three consoles when I was 14.

That's a shame. I have yet to get the RRoD and hopefully will not.

Howeever you should have a warranty on it so Microsoft replaces it for free most of the time. When you get it back the will patch up all the make shift jobs they made on the console to get it launched before the PS3. And you also get a free month of XBL. If that means anything to you.

Hope everything works out.
