Heres mine, its work in progress.

i remember doing these in art class.... with hole-punches and glue.

Yeah this actually my advanced art assignment.
I remember making Christmas cards for my family using pointillism. I hated every moment of it. I can't stand doing pointillism. So many dots...!
I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

Yeah it definetly takes time and patience.
I've always know it as Stippling. We had to do self-portraits that way. I dunno where mine is... packed away somewhere, no doubt... but if I can find it, I'll try to take a pic (my scanner is broken).
Your pic is looking good... my only suggestion: try to have no dot at the lightest point.
I just looked it up, apparently Pointillism is when there's color, like you said... so your piece is stippled (unless there's actually color I can't see in the picture)... tomato... tomato! (lol, that doesn't work in print! nvm!!)
I think stippling in general looks great and I wish more people had the patience for it. I've done a couple pictures I'll try to get up. I was thinking about starting a thread like this actually.
I enjoy bold statements
its a stippiling NIGHTMARE!! just take it to heart tho, its a killer technique to be able to hammer out like its nothing. VCJ did alot of it in some of his graphics for Powell-Peralta and his own stuff.. check it out for killer insparation.
