I really don't see the reason why not, since I am not a religious man.
It's a good idea and may even help the disabled to become more functioning.
And just like that....he was gone...

Yes, definitely. Destroying a few lives is certainly worth saving millions.

What a wonderfully utilitarian approach, though is meaningless to the case.
Stem cells are not people.
Also, it is legal, just new projects are not publicly funded by the American government.
Now if the question was whether it should be publicly funded in the USA, I say yes.

Eh? Another Commander....? Anyway, there is no loss of life simply because there is no life being used. Now, if they were killing something, then harvesting the stem cells, I would have an issue, but they are merely proposing using material that is going to be disposed of anyway, so I don't see the issue really.

Thats why I don't get why people protest over this. There is no life yet, just stem cells.

I'm only pro-stem cell research as a side-effect of being pro-dead babies.

No but blastocysts are. Read any Embryology book that isn't dyed in the wool and it will say life begins at conception.

As long as it is not Embryonic Stem Cell research it is fine. People still have stem cells in their body after leaving the womb. Sure they are few but its consented and not killing anyone.

People who are already alive trump people who have the possibility of developing into life. So, yes. I support the legalization of stem cell research.

Stem cell research IS legal, just federal funding for it isn't.
Which is as it should be. All these things should be handled in the private sector by private investors.
Seriously with the amount of cures they are promising it should have no problem getting tons and tons of money from philanthropists and venture capitalists.

Didn't Bush say something about not having to use stem cells since scientists could now do it with skin or some weird shit like that?

Yes. He was probably refering to adult stem cells as opposed to embryonic stem cells.
I heard( I don't know much about the subject) that adult stem cells had yielded results and embryonic had not, but not positive. Of course I don't believe Adult stem cells should receive funding either.

No, because then the treatments will be owned exclusively and the comapnies wil lcharge through the roof for access to them.

Stem cell research is not illegal. Thus the whole point is moot.

In some states, it is. I did a research paper on it a couple years ago.
It just isn't publicly funded.

I am against Embryonic Stem cell research. So much that I capitalize it in every sentence. Anyway you look at it you are destroying the potential for human life, even if it is 100 Million cells, or 10.

Stem cell research could of well of cured cancer by now, If you honeslty think that those embyros had potential for life its no different than thinking that a piece of beef has the potentail for life. I would like the irony of George bush getting cancer to just see how he feels about it now...

Err, stem cells are only taken from women who agree to donate them and are given in vitro fertilization. The time between the fertilization and the collection of cells making up the blastocyst, the stem cells, is four to five days.
High five for not reading your basic textbook material.

Better not masturbate then.
even if it is 100 Million cells, or 10.
So the potential life of a couple hundred cells trumps the life of say, a young girl with severe burns to 80% of her body?
You have a fucked up sense of morality.

Legal? Maybe. Funded by taxpayer dollars? No. It isn't right to force people to pay for that kind of thing; let it be funded from private sources, if scientists are so intent on studying it.
