Quality over quantity.

If you can make good stuff, you can make good stuff in numbers. If you can only make numbers, you can only make numbers.

Seeing as your art thread is mostly talk and the art is mostly glorified stick figures, I'd say it does.

Does one have to come to newgrounds for advice on their art? Cannot one, say- show a friend? I'm not saying it's a problem that I haven't got critique. Quite the contrary.

And no offense man, but the capn' ain't an idiot. To be honest, the best image on your latest art thread page is snowman's 'awesome' tingy. Had I the pluck to make an art thread, I wouldn't post anything that isn't a worthy sight to the eye- take your ninja sketch for example, I wouldn't be so bold as to call it something of interest- or even much of an update. You added a sword. Even before it was just a bunch of lines...Y'aint no Da Vinci.
Sorry man, no way to say that without sounding a bastard.

I really dislike seeing the breaker-upper come when the battle is fought. Actually I just flat out loathe 'im, you bast!

I remember at school, I always fucking hated the breaker-upper. Always butting his weedy little hands between two guys trying to settle disputes in a way that has been practised in nature as well as humanity for eons.

so yeah...
+1 Kettle WOOO!

This is the kind of crap I'm talking about. What I said wasn't a compliment in the least way. This thread has been on the decline for awhile now. You guys have to stop just spamming this thread with +1 posts, and yes that is exactly what you're doing.

I'm posting this on Nae's behalf, because she's very busy right now and lets face it...I'm much cooler. You'll notice that Nae deleted all the garbage you've been posting today. That was a warning.

The Art Forum Lounge is for discussions, not mindless banter that consists of posts with only a few words each. If you want to discuss something than DISCUSS it, preferably without sending you guys off on a tangent that ends in one or two pages of +1 posting.

If you want to have these kinds of small random chats, then get on AIM and make a chatroom with all of you. Gmail has an awesome chat feature that works great for this.

Another alternative is you guys can PM me and I can send you invites to GoogleWAVE. There's already a wave for the general forum, which you can get in on if you want. You could also make an Art Forum Wave over there. It works the same as the BBS and you can do whatever the hell you want.

Sorry I have to play the bad guy here, but it seems it's the only way to get through to you. You guys have been more or less out of control lately, and being nice to you hasn't given anything back to us. I know I'm not a BBS mod, but I've spoken to the others about this, and if it continues you guys are not above getting banned.

I found that even after just a basic life drawing course my skills went up greatly, so yeah I would say go for it if you can, also I have found just surrounding your self with art people seems to work in your favor as well.

It's okay if it's not strictly art related, but as long as it's an actual discussion.

Also I forgot to link to it but here's the thread for WAVE over in general.

Tried some drawings with markers today, nothing special, just regular old Crayola markers, shading with markers is very interesting, not used to needing to test what shades ill get before I get them.

The thing I don't like about Markers is that they tend to over-saturate...so if you go overboard it turns into this black, goopy mess in one area of your drawing and there's no chance of fixing it.

Ah, see that's one thing I always do when it comes to physical art as oppose to digital art. Even though I don't do much, when I have, I'd always test out to see what colours I'd get.

I wasn't getting that problem, though I wasn't doing many layers of color, nor using very dark colors

Actually, when I was working on my card for the Christmas Card exchange, it felt both strange and refreshing to be using pencil crayons again, after such a long time of not using them.

to be honest not that long ago, I really didn't know how to use markers, but now I use copics and prisma, they do the trick pretty well, and just with layering I get the shades I need

My stuff is pretty amaruer, as it's the first time I'v seriously used markers, for anything really. I'll probably post some on Monday or Tuesday, I keep my sketchbook in my art class as it's the only place I get any non digital stuff done.

before I cam to ai I never even touched a marker artistically. but after some friends of mine tutored me on them, I found I like them better than digital coloring.

I have no finals, no grades, no midterms, no classes :p

Instead we have one and a half hour assessments in which we show and explain the project we've worked on for the last ~5 months to our teachers.
