Yeah, I agree with BMK and Capt`n
Id like to add thought that not only is it nicer for the noobs, I usually get more pleasure out of posting a helpfull reply, than I get out of a "bad" one. And usually those poeple really dont have any wrong intentions.
`nother thought is that those "clutter"-thread (those that clutter up the forum, and dont really add any content) are usually resolved (dead) faster when poeple are constructive. Replying negative usually results in either a flame war (keeping the thread on the top of the first page), or it will get locked. in the latter case the op wont have had his problem resolved, so he will create a new thread making the exact same "mistake".

As Capt`n said, we can lose some really talented/nice/constructive poeple with that negattitude.

yeah I did just make that into one word, I just did it.

I don't have a problem with you guys telling the newbs where to go and what to do and pointing out the rules and the proper places to post what they're posting and such, I have a problem when you are overtly assholes. Please try to be reasonably nice, you don't have to be super accommodating or praise what they're doing or how they are doing it, I don't expect that and I don't want to see that, I expect you to be honest and straightforward, but you do not have to be a dick-face.

I know that I have sometimes been a little rude to a passing troll or two, but I try to only do that when they are flaunting their ignorance or acting like douches themselves.

Bottom line is this: YOU CAN BE BANNED FOR BACKSEAT MODDING. In the Art Forum you are generally allowed to inform new users about the rules and such, just don't be an anus about it. K?

understood im really bad at backseat modding anyway so i gave it up, now i just lurk the art forum and let others do it, ill only start when a noob wont acknowledge that he cant draw, or his collab sucks lol

So I'm looking for a little information on the artist Alex Grey. One of my art professors was telling me about a rumor she used to hear about Grey being a necrophiliac until he had horrible nightmares from the experience, and then had to create art in the way he does now. Anyone heard of such a tale?

I realize that I don't have anywhere near the same authority as any art professor on anything related to art. But I sure think it is strange for a teacher and professor to pass along rumors about something like that to their students. Such serious "accusations" should better be well documented if they are to be part of a lecture.

This site is great for art! Every time I meet someone and say, "Yeah you should check out Newgrounds, there are some awesome pieces there" they say, "No, man, DeviantArt rocks, NG sucks." (Bastards)
Anyway, in the form of art, this site is becoming quite legit, and has been doing so for a while. Will anyone besides members every appreciate NG for more than just cock jokes? (which are still funny, I don't care what you say)

Different isn't always bad. Lookit my ART!

well, if you compare the ng art portal to DA youre probably right in saying that da has more to offer.
What I love about ng though, is the art forum. imo this is where the magic happens. so maybe you should link your friends to some cool topics here in the forum. maybe doubles 8, maybe a COW...
that might make them appreciate ng a bit more.

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF FFFFFFFFFFFFF!

My toilet was dripping from the "inrun", so I tried to tighten the nut, but the damn thing was old and worn and broke, so it was pouring water out into the entire bathroom. So I had to shut down the water in my entire appartment. Witch was pretty fucking enoying since I had had filthy water splashed all over me, but couldn't take a bath. So I had to go down to the nearest public bath and shower. AND all the shops are closed down by now so I won't have any water until monday when I can get some new nuts.
What a shitty way to start the weekend >:C

Hahaha Lundsfryd needs new nuts.

Anyway, I haven't really checked out DA very much.. I mean I've been to a few specific peoples' pages, but not much further than that.

Would anybody recommend it, or not? Cause I don't have much (you might have seen some of my mediocre crap elsewhere on the forum) or anything worthwhile to put.

I'm not a huge fan of dA, the site is huge and there's really no quality control to speak of. People just upload whatever shit they want and get nice comments about it, no real crit. I haven't been in their forums though, so idk how those work.

It's nice to see the stuff that get's put up for Daily Deviation and what's popular is usually good stuff (though often too anime for my taste) but it's difficult to get any meaningful recognition and impossible to get constructive criticism. To me it's more of a networking thing than a serious place to make an art portfolio or to get feedback.

That's my two cents.

I never cared for DA either. I only have an account there because someone pestered me so much about creating one that I finally told him to just do it for me... he did, and now I use it the way Wivernryder described... as storage. lol.

I do like that you can see how many views you get (which is never many for me, but still). Here you have to be scouted to see that... lame. You can also see how many and who favorited each piece, as well as download totals. Random info, but still nice to have access to.

Someone... BmK, I believe... mentioned to me (just a few weeks ago, in fact) that DA has forums... 'cuz I didn't even know! lol :P I should really check them out someday... maybe... probably won't.

I recently created an account at conceptart.org. I thought it would be inspiring, but it just makes me feel ...inadequate, so I haven't posted anything. It's an intimidating place. Their chow's, cow's etc. turn out some REALLY impressive stuff... not to say the ones here don't, but theirs are just... ridiculous. Like, "I'm gonna go sob in a corner for rest of my life due to my inferiority" kind of ridiculous. I hate that place.

Yeah, I feel like that pretty much everywhere there is a piece that is superior to a stick figure. =P
People in the past have told me that some of my art (none of it has been posted on NG recently) is pretty good, but I'm never satisfied with anything I draw. I always view it as extremely mediocre or inferior based on what I've seen that other people can do.

Yeah, I'm hoping they update the art portal with that. Just as the flash portal allows you to see how many people have favourited your pieces, reviewed your work and see reviews you left, I'm hoping the art portal can get updated to allow that as well.

On the subject of DA and feeling inadequate I just came across this guys stuff and cried myself in a fetal position for 3 hours.

DA is a giant cesspool of shit, but every so often you find people who you have to wonder what the hell they are even doing associating themselves with that site.

Hey, is there any way we can petition to get the Request Thread implemented into the Art Forum Rules?
Basically something like
- If you are looking for an artist to design something for you, please post your request in the Art Request Thread

Johnny, one of the problems with that is that ( more than ) half the people that come to the forum don't bother to read the rules before they go ahead and post a request.

well, still it could help for half the illegal request threads. But it would also help because you could actually redirect poeple to the rule stating that it had to be posted in the request thread. I think it should be in there.

I suppose that would be a pretty good idea, but i guess Wivern is right, seeing that the majority of newcomers to the Art Forum don't bother to read the rules.

I suggest making either using your personal art thread to post these images, or making a thread for your game art where you can display your WIPs and updates.
