oh WOW!! dA is SUCH a cool website and is so generous!! Just LOOk at what I found out while browsing through the settings on my dA account...

...well if you give dA your money you get this thing called a 'Premium Membership' BUT that's not the best part! The BEST part is that when you are a 'Premium Member' you can view all the super cool artistic and wonderful deviations ZOOMED IN!! and you DONT EVEN HAVE TO CLICK!! :O ISN'T DA GREAT! Just imagine how much time you have been wasting clicking to make a deviation zoomed in, thank GOODNESS that dA has this magnificent offer.

no sarcasm intended :B

It'll be that, or they let a drunk toddler make some, if not all of the financial decisions for there website. If it wasn't an intoxicated small child then it was at least somebody that soils themselves when given the chance to make a serious business decision and just shout what ever comes randomly into their head.

"Eeeerrrrmmm.........Let them zoom without clicking!"

O' silly things make me laugh. Proves that not everybody in business is a head strong, man of numbers type. There are a few idiots out there too.

I said no to drugs but they just wouldn't listen.

References

I see nothing wrong with references. Hell I encourage them for pretty much anyone. Even the best artists need to reference stuff. Unless you are a cartoonist of some sort and have your character style down pat you should be looking at things to get a better sense of what they really look like. Its nice and all to draw strictly from your mind, but it helps to start with a reference until you get that one thing so memorized that you no longer need to look at it to draw.

Personally I only draw from reference. I find that when i try to draw stuff without one I get lazy and either give up or rush the hell out of the piece because i don't put as much care into it. However with the exception of a few of my porn drawings (and commissions where some one gives me a reference), ALL of my references come from myself. I take my own reference photos, or i find the object to draw from in life. Even the tiny insignificant objects are from my own photos.

I don't think an artist needs to mentioned whether or not they referenced something unless they are asked. However if they did use a reference they shouldn't say that its all from their mind. That is where things get suspicious and people get angry, when suddenly the obvious reference or trace surfaces and they person claimed to have done the piece solely from imagination.

This is pure racism I will not stand nor sit for this.

And so his culture is official.
Trololololololol.
Anyways, if some more details are released this might be pretty cool.
You said PM but you should know that I'm too lazy too.
In think if they are all Indian they could be like worshipping a golden cow.
If they are Mexican they could be standing in front of Home Depot.

I've said my racist remarks for the day. <3 Diversity

References are undeniably important - an invaluable learning tool, simply putting your pen along the same lines as another. The most absurd pictures can be a breakthrough in any positioning error, or simply mulling over the details of any picture. They can turn a picture excellent.

That said, I've seen quite a few tracings and downright copying passed off as referenced. There's a limit.

Hey guys

This is going to be the last time i post anything in the art forum for a long time. Life has been pretty rough ever since the day i turned 18, but its no use complaining because its better to spend the fixing things.

Long story short, im joining the Navy. Something i said i would never do is join the armed forces but this is for a pretty good reason. I have no where to live, no job, i fucked up in school...my chances of college or even being able to concentrate in college are basically fucked.

Im going to the Navy as a Mass Communication Specialist, i will work with the media and make illustrations and do photography for the Navy. Im going to be on a ship still and will travel alot. When i leave ill have a minimum of 124,000 dollars if i dont even score i higher pay rank.
The Navy would have already put me through school for photography and ill have the funds for a art school afterwards if want it which i will.

Also....ill be a fucking seaman....walking jizz....yeah

anyways i love you all....or whatever
and ill most likely never talk to any of you again but maybe some day you will see a vexon somewhere

you never know

o.o.... I just came.......
www.azureusrising.com
^ watch....
no seriously.... watch it...
I found it to be nice and fast paced, as well well animated and rendered. There are a couple things I did notice like the one soldier falling dropping his minigun before he was even hit.... still I would like to see the rest of it if it ever comes out.

With the end of the world coming up for gullible and superstitious people, I was thinking about doing an 'Artpocalypse Now!' project, wherein each participant creates a rendering of a possible end of the world/end of mankind scenario.

Would you guys rather see an Artpocalypse Now! collab or a just-for-fun deal?

References

I completely agree - references are super important because they prevent you from makign stupid perspective mistakes liek I did with my "a fishy being from beyond" picture =- I have the man in one position and the entire rest of the pic in another and now looking at it looks completely retarded and since I am a paper artist there is absolutely nothnig I can do to fix it but draw and colour it all over again.

We aren't meant to think up everything in our heads - there is just too much to consider, and to forget. That's why they have those little poseable mannequin dolls you can use :)

Might have been, but we've all seen what has happened in the past when an activity thread has tried to turn into a collab.....

Both threads die.

when both are run by mods you expect a little more reliability though, and i really liked that idea

also side note, since eskimos gone now, are we gunna reboot/restart the egg collab in remembrance :P

Yeah, I had the idea to make a collab with the same evolution theme, it still could happen (and if someone else wants to do it, that would be fine too), but I haven't gotten around to launching one yet. I don't believe I said that one was a definite thing.
