Sure man! Let me just sow them things back on now... lets see, I think they were put in this bag here for safe keeping. Hmm here the -OH GOD!! OH MY LORDY GOODNESS!! :O.. it seems.. that they have... been mashed into a fine paste.. I'm not sure if there's anyway at all for these to be re-attached. Sorry :(
I accidentally drew some lineart on the canvas and now I can't color underneath it because it's on a white layer.
Is there a way in GIMP or Painter (I no longer have Photoshop) to trace the lineart onto a separate layer without bringing all the white?
And, no, I mean a way other than turning down the opacity and tracing over top.

Magic wand?
If it's anti-aliased, it'll be a pain in the ass
I have nothing to say that is at all relevant.

I don't entirely know what anti-alias means, but when I use the magic wand, I get a bunch of little white areas around the lines, so I'm assuming it is anti-aliased.
Damn. I may have to just turn down the opacity and trace back over everything. I'll see if anyone else has any suggestions.

I'm right clicking the green channel, but I'm not seeing any options saying "Mark channel" or "invert" anything.
Speaking of software problems, whenever I try to make a new, blank document in photoshop, I cannot make new layers, or draw on any of them. help?

There is a way in gimp. Open up channels and turn of every one except green. Then press channel to selection(Right click) Press edit then press invert. Make a new layer, and paint over it with black ink. - Hehe, better?
I'm sorry, but I do all of this, and then I paint over in black and nothing happens.
Specifically, I'm opening channels, then I'm turning off the visibility of the red, blue, and alpha channels (clicking off the little eye).
I could possibly be doing something wrong here, because I'm not entirely sure if that's what you mean by "turn off every one".
I select only the green layer, then I click on "channel to selection". I go then to Select -> invert.
Could be messing up by using the wrong invert here. I don't see an edit -> invert, though.
Then I create a new layer and paint over it and nothing happens.
Where might I be doing this wrong?
I think you should close it down and reopen the map. And then open channel again, because if you havent drawn or made a new layer there should be no alpha channel. And then when you make a new layer to paint it over, then both the green channel and the alpha channel should be on.
Oh, I gotcha now. I had to take an extra step, because for some reason it left a green version of the drawing on the canvas (so I had to delete the canvas and create a new bottom layer), but I've got it all separated now.
Thanks, Lark! This helped A LOT. Much appreciated.
This isn't the first time I've made this mistake. If it was, I would have just traced over it again.

Make sure you have the mode set to rgb (for web/screen), not lab or something.

I have that problem when working with pngs and such.
Usually it is set to indexed color mode. Switch it to RGB or CMYK (For print)
well that is probably not what is wrong, but hey it's worth a look

The first rule about getting remasculated is not to ask to be remasculated!
Thanks guys, it was set to bitmap whenever I made a blank document for some reason. I appreciate it from both of you

I know Robot day is like... 7 months away, but I had an idea for it yesterday after all the art-collaby talking:
"Little José loves robot
So he went to a factory to build one.
But, oh no! He needs to find parts!
Will you help José?"
Everyone draws an ending picture of little José interacting with your own robot and you draw 5 or 6 parts needed to build that robot. Those parts have to be gathered in a small, simple but addictive game... about the same ammount of simplicity and fun factor as Bearbound :3
Parts are constantly replaced, which would give a funny little effect of seeing your segments mixed with other people's segments. Every complete set = your robot ending pic = 1 medal.

People might be confusing it for a dress-up make-your-own-robot game
