Perhaps the moderators should have the ability to delete threads, just so the threads don't spam up the forum.

The art fourms were a quiet place where artists would come and chat amongst others... after the art portal a huge influx of level 1 - 8 users charge to the art BBS asking the same questions over and over and over again regard less of the rules... its something the new feature is going to do... untill the big "NEW!.. TEH ART PORTAL!" is taken down i cant really see it slowing down any time soon... its new and brings in new people who dont really do flash that much or music but like the odd doodle now and again... the rules should be alot harsher i know but the fact is they are all new and dont understand how to read the big fourm header (READ THIS FIRST U NOOB!)... at the end of the day... its new... its fun and its getting more people to join up and talk about it to people... i dont know really... but we will soon see how this pans out in the near future... :S

Yeah, That was my original concern. but then I figured after the initial shock has passed, and as you said the big "NEWWWWEEWEWEWW ARRRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrt!" banner is taken down, itll probably cool down. And when that happens....
I hava already seen some great artists on the portal, that I hadnt seen on the art forum before, so they might become a real asset to the art forum.

Is anyone interested in making some collaborative pieces for the art portal?

I was thinking of starting a new thread for some quartered face collabs or exquisite corpses or something, but since the the Art Portal gives credit to only one person currently I was wondering how exactly we could go about doing that and crediting everyone who contributes...

Ideas?

I personally do not really care about the art portal ratings and stuff (care more about reviews, and poeple on the forum). So we could just have one person upload it and mention that it was a collab with [other artist]. Or both artists could upload it, but that still wouldnt share the votes and reviews on it, plus it would clutter the portal.

The quartered face collab idea was something a friend of mine asked me to do some time ago, I'm sure it's been done before, but that's where I first got the idea. =]

If its a collaborative piece, can you Co-Author yet for the Art Portal? I feel like its a great idea to get some collab stuff in there, always comes out interesting seeing the work of two people over one.

As for this 4 quarter face thingy, sounds fantastic, ill make sure to do one! Best part about making individual quarters is you can use the same 1/4 later on to possibly match better with 3 others, to find the best possible 4/4 outcome, I foresee great success.

Haha I remember when you were working on that. Maybe each person can sign the corner and put the artist list and what they did in the description of the submission or something (as the only thing in the description or it will be overshadowed by some other paragraph in the description). I wouldn't really know who would SUBMIT it though because i'm sure there could be discrepancies in who is more popular VS who had the better piece or did the best contribution. Cus i'm sure we could collab on foreground vs background or character vs character.

I think it's best to do a couple with popular artists so that the admins make it a priority to get coauthoring in the art portal. I wouldn't really want five of my first submissions to go through and not get me as much attention as it could.

I'm all down for doing a quarter face, those are my specialty :P

Well I can understand where you're coming from, but I'm very artistic and I enjoy drawing and designing over audio development and flash creations. The Art Portal was my excuse to really become apart of the site. While I'm not that intent on leveling up and all that fun stuff, I am enjoying the art portal as a whole.

Not everyone is terrible at art, some are just bad ;).

going of topic a bit here... but the art portal... when people become unscouted... it would be nice to be able to find out WHY... beacuse iv seen a few that have been scouted but then were unscouted and i dont know if it was beacuse of them... or beacuse of the person scouting them...

this makes it very hard to scout people whom are no unscouted beacuse i have no idea why... is this a thing to look into?... its just an idea, or is there already somewhere that can tell me this?

I've become unscouted 2 or 3 times since the portal opened. It's very frustrating.

I really don't see why this is a frustrating problem, nothing is really effected by it. Nothing is deleted, if your art is good and you deserve to be in the portal i guarantee you get rescouted within a day. If you don't get rescouted that means that you probably shouldn't have been scouted in the first place and might be the reason why someone higher up on your branch got pruned

Really hope this isn't the case, and that harder stuff should be definitely reported.

I think it would be neat for the Art portal to enable revenue ads. It would provide a way for people who just submit art to earn some buckaroos, know what I mean?

also i was thinking... for some reason i was unscouted today... but i have no idea whos fault it was... i think it would be a great idea to see whos fault it was... at the moment i have no idea if it was my fault *dont think it was* or the people i scouted... *or the person that scouted me :S*

anway... it might just be beacuse i havent got four artworks up yet :S who knows

Nah that wasn't your fault. I'll confess I pruned a guy cos his scouts were junk, and I saw your name when I was running up and down trees.

ah though so... i went up my tree a few times and im sure a user had something like 74 scouts... i knew i was going to get unscouted at some point in the future :P

i take it one you have been scouted you cant unscout yourself to get rescouted by anyone else... im not keen on this system at the moment... im sure its either going to grow on me or just be a love / hate thing... thanks for clearing that up turkey :P

I don't think so. I can see myself having a mixed opinion on it for a while. once the Art Portal becomes a regular thing and it's not as "new" then it should be okay.

I hadnt scouted anyone which means I got unscouted due to the bastard that scouted ME. >:(
