I also really like lupe fiasco. His first and second albums tell a story about a character he made up, and it sounds a little quirky, but it ends up being pretty cool in the end.

Is it just me or is the art forum dead right now?

Welp, I probably wont be online much tomorrow.
I'm moving into my house for school. Got a truck coming in the morning, and then we're heading off. Looking forward to being in a house after the last 2 years in residence. Should be a good experience.

Could the next person that does this include the name of the artist and song and not just put the hmtl to the videos... It would make me and perhaps others more inclined to click on the links.

When it comes to inspiration for art, musics always been a big part of it -so far going as it actually influences the quality of my work. For that reason, I usually use slow, calming or at the very least melancholy tracks - gives me that little boost to my work ethic, which is sorely in need.

One of my favourites has to be Return to Slumber from the Demon Soul's OST - a great song with some vocals, but not too much. Another one, recently discovered, would have to be Track Rain from the Halo OSDT OST - again great calming song with a little melancholy, but this time no vocals, which is perfect.

However, I usually find myself listening to a rain ambiance song - such as "Sounds of Rain and Thunder on a River" - I've always found rain relaxing, and it's hard to care about getting a piece done, when there's no worry or rush in the song - it really does make a huge difference to how long I spend on a piece at any one time.

Anyway, that's just me. All links are to Youtube, though I've received (bought or dled through Youtube in the case of the rain ambiance) all the tracks at one point or another.

I go to UWO (University of Western Ontario).
I lived in residence the first two years, but I decided that it was time to move out for third. I have a house with some friends of mine, so it should be pretty awesome.
I live about a 15 minute walk from campus and a 15 minute walk from the mall, so it's perfect location.

So first day of school today and I needed to fix my schedule, I had a free block.
And something that seniors get to do is intern, usually this means just walking around and basically being a mailman for an hour, in the art department, this is not the case.
I am more or less an assistant teacher for a photography class

Problems with this, I am not a teacher, I am not the teacher type, and I know nothing about photography.
Luckily I've had this teacher in the past and thinks I am totally capable of not only doing the work but helping people out with it.

And once this semester's over I'll do the same hopefully in a different art class.

Although it would be awesome to attend an art school, I think it's gonna be really exiting to get to try out all these different kinds of medias. (Flm, design, photography..)

I've got a question though. what is an art school like?
Like, what kind of classes do you have?

I'm still in highschool, however art school is exactly like you'd expect.
Depending on what you'd want to major in, those are basically the classes you take.
For example, I am majoring in illustration, so my classes will mostly focus on anatomy and form studies, composition, drawing, lots and lots of drawing, color theory and other stuff, i don't really know.

Well, I guess normal Art Schools weren't too different from a Media Arts School. I figure they have less focus on digital programs though.

I had a couple of classes that were introductions to programs and from there on. it was all classes over technique, design, and practice.... Lot of harsh critiques too...

They seem to know what they're doing, and I hope they actually get someone =D

I'm planning to go for a Media course with a major in Video Game Design myself - I've got a scholarship with a guaranteed place into the university, if not a guaranteed place into the course. Highschool is wearing me down, though so I've got to work on my crap, or else.

I was going to take a year off to do a Canadian travel/work/national thing but I ended up getting stuck on a waiting list while I watch all my friends move from my home town. Now all I's got to do issa sit around working on my portfolio or computron.
SO.
GODDAMN.
BORING.
its the worst. Good news is that I finally found a friend to go to the life drawing classes at OCAD with - which is a pretty prestigious art school from around where I am

The funny thing is that, under any other circumstance, I'd probably join those forums. Unfortunately, stuff going as it is, I'm actually enrolled in a few forums that all demand my attention and I've been systematically abandoning quite a few. I have a nasty habit of dropping a few hundred to a thousand posts then screwing off. Never-the-less, good luck.

You know, I'm someone who's used to completely artwork in one or two sessions, so my current piece pretty much sucks (I've worked on it in 4 different sessions now) and to top it off it doesn't even look good. I've to get past the damned lineart.

The head is terribly. Sorry Linty, but it is. It looks like it's completely detached from her body. It's not terrible otherwise, but I have to agree that this isn't as good as your normal work.

I work in a much different manner than you. I usually get my stuff done in many different sittings. Ophelia is the only one that's actually any good at all (The Black and the Ghost-Rider were also done in single sittings, but those are both pretty lackluster) that I got done in only one or two sittings.

Now I'm interested; time-management wise, how do most people here do their work?

Well, to do sketches it probably takes me about 15-45 mins. If I think that that sketch is good enough to be inked I usually spend a least 30 mins. inking a single picture. Though if I want to ink a sketch (being the procrastinator that i am) I usually will wait a few days before I ink.

Ive been pretty slow and lame when it comes to art work since moving back with my parents, completely out of my element here and cant do my usual schedule or method of work so i havent been producing anything.

But when I was living on my own I would generally do the essential things during the day. AKA job, school, errands, etc. and then start arting it up at night, all night. I would typically forsake sleeping for a good 2-3 days in a row to get artwork done during the night.
