I use references all the time. Say I'm drawing a wilderness scene, I'll pull up a couple pictures of trees, some of deers and so on. Tracing in most cases is not very artistic. It can be used in some instances but not very often maybe to get a certain perspective or something? And recoloring is just a waste of time and resources.

Yeah referencing is pretty okay, because it's just a way of "help". I've seen a lot of traces mostly on the anime area. DeviantArt is swarming with those tracers.

because DA has no real quality control and is so vast and fast moving it would be pretty hard to moderate, i just use that place for a portfolio, i much prefer it here, theres more of a community it feels more personal

As fifty-50 said, your not so bad. Still; it would be cool if you tried to be a bit more relaxed about everything. Not every post you make has to be witty or funny, not everything has to replied to, one bad picture doesnt make a collab fail. What im trying to say is; try to be less all over the place and nowhere. if you catch my drift.

Hey dudes, I plan on getting back into the NG Art community now :D.

I joined a while back and it was really awesome, I was thoroughly enjoying it; but due to other commitments I had to bring it all to a temporary hiatus.
Now however, I have some free time back on my hands and i'm planning on getting back into the swing of things. I accepted a portal invite that ZachMM had sent me a few weeks ago today and i'm planning on starting work on a drawing tomorrow. I'm really looking forward to it.

I hope to chat to you guys soon and maybe share some ideas.
