I wouldn't say that they're starting to take an interest in art. I'd say it's more like people see an art forum and go "hurr hurr, let me post my MS paint doodles, because that's what I draw with, hurr hurr".

I think it only is really bad to the forum if dont handle it correctly; if we can politely tell poeple that they need to work on their pieces, a lot of them will go away, and maybe one out of ten will stay and become a fine member of society... I dont think that would be a bad thing to the forum.
I'm sorry guys. I'm such a fool when it comes to image resizing. I can't seem to convert it to 150k (again), and I can't post it on the forum *sigh*. It my robot day entry, I do not know why it's so large. I think because of all those layers. How to I resize this anyway? When Kinsei helped me about this problem he only resized it for me, and didn't tell me how he did it.

I actually showed GrumpyTom how to resize an image yesterday.
Anyways, open up photoshop.
Image > Image Size
Make sure that the chain link is there, which makes sure that proportions are locked. If not, check the "constrain proportions" box.
Then you can edit the width or height of the image and the other side will also adjust accordingly.
You can also adjust the pixels/inch.
Actually I'm talking about it not being less than 150k, which makes me unable to post it in the forum. D: Kinsei mentioned something about DPI's. And I tried making it smaller, but the forum still won't accept. :(

what i noticed (with my colored pencil drawing anyways) the smaller i make it, the bigger the file was.... probably just my computer being retarted but yeah :S
make a stickam room guys D:

What the hell? Same here! I smell something fishy.

huh, okay then, ALL computers are retarted. aha!
and, unfortunately, bigger IS better, but not when it comes to resizing pics on the computer... :(
and .gif wouldnt be too good either, nasty little save files... always being stupid with grainy stuff...
In photoshop; you can click "save as" then select .jpeg (and type a name)
a dialog window pops up that allows you to change the quality of the exported jpeg; Im not exactly sure what this does; but it works. Lower quality gives lower filesize (which is indicated in the window btw.) In my experience the actual size tends to be a bit below the size ps indicates; but I guess that depends on the drawing and perhaps on your operating system.

Well, what you can also try is this.
File > Save for Web
It will give you an optimized file that you can save.

I guess I should have explained, I'm sorry. To make up, I put this together, I hope it helps.
also I noticed that the DPI this time was 600, it's increasing o.0.....
Link to bigger, but you'll still have to down load it to see it :( sorry...
oh and before I forget, the resized picture at 150 dpi
it was also mentioned earlier about using the save for web and devices. while this is great for getting file sizes really, really small, the final out puts are typically not very versatile and harder to edit later on. But that file size does look good at time, so when using that method, be sure you know what your final intentions for the piece are.
Also QB mentioned the jpeg file size/quality thing. this I have two shots of of in the tutorial, one with a higher KB, the other with a lower. Yes with this you can lower the size a little but not much, usually just enough to nudge it over or under the edge just a tad. One big down side is you can seriously sacrifice quality with good intentions here. when using this I would say never go below a 7.
well I hope this little ramble made sense..... I know I'm confused...

Oh twitter, it's nothing more than a glorified Facebook status update.
It's especially bad when people post every single fucking thing they're doing.

Well, if you're retarded enough to post on twitter every 5 minutes, you probably are retarded enough to shit AFTER you showered.

he's just misunderstood...
First of all my bad for posting this in the forum first, forgot about this thread.
Hey everyone.
I'm looking for a forum that revolves around digital art, preferably Photoshop. I've gotten back into it and I'm keen to find another medium sized forum or two to become part of my home, full of like minded people where I can find inspiration and motivation.
EDIT: This didn't seem detailed enough. Previously when I was active here I was part of a couple of other forums which had been started by like-minded people from here to largely revolve around the creation of art, wallpapers, sigs etc as opposed to the website design/logo design aspect etc.
Just so you know I'm not some random newb (if you couldn't tell by my signup date :P) Here's an example of something I did ages ago.
Sweet baby Jesus the forum moved fast today. I've only been away for 14 hours and the nearly the entire first page of the forum was new posts/topics.

Finally got somethig worth seeig.
I think there are not much useful topics in the lounge at the moment, which is quite sad. Can i start a new topic? Ah yes, how about tracing and recoloring. You know, people who get so dang popular, and they fooled people that they were uber-skilled in art.

a few people do that, using reference is ok for poses and looks but tracing is generally looked down on, since your just going over someone elses lines, recolouring is even worse since your not even doing the lines your just coloring, that should only be kept in one thread nowhere else
