Hey all, Im back from my second vacation.
This time it was Barcelona; I was supposed to go with TOAS, but he backed out. ;)
Barcelona is a quite beautiful city, but more than that its artistically very inspiring. First of you have Gaudi`s architecture and sculptures; The Sagrada Familia, Casa de Milo and Parc Guell are each on their own worth a visit. The Sagrada and Casa Mila are both very interesting to admire from outside; but for the EU10,- admission fee you get a great look at the inspirations of Gaudis work. The Casa Mila had a more interesting museum department plus a really cool rooftop terrace. If you were too choose, I suggest going into Casa Mila rather than the Sagrada... Impressive as it is; it is still being constructed; which makes large areas unaccessable, and its grandest features are observable from the outside anyways.
Barcelone also hosts a Museum dedicated to Salvador Dali, right in the city centre. The rather smallish museum did not exhibit many of his famous works; nor did it posses any but one of his so distinguishable paintings. It did however host a large collection of sketches and quite some sculptures. The sketches were very interesting in tracing his development through different styles. It really was quite a small museum (especially considering the number of works on display, so if you want to visit a dali museum I suggest you pick the one in figueras which is supposedly not that far from barcalona.
If we`re talking Spanish artists, I cant skip Pablo Picasso. The Museu Picasso in Barca owns a large collection of his earlier works as well as the very impressive "Las Meninas" series. Definitely worth a visit.
All in all it was a very inspiring trip, so Im kinda glad to be back and get arting myself.
Thats whats up with me; whats up with you?
