Does any one have a link to the pre-redesign level icons with their exp requirements? I wanna know what level I would be if this was still pre-redesign.

Well, considering the EXP requirements increased daily, it would be difficult to work out what they would be now. Difficult, but not impossible.

I believe the best way to do it would be to use Internet Archive to search for pre redesign Newgrounds pages. Some of the links don't seem to work, but try to find the closest one before 7/17/07 (redesign date).

From there, you'll need to add on the amount that the level requirements will have gone up by. Here is the increment for each level:

The formula to calculate the requirement for a certain level in the old system is:

([#1´s Exp]-400)/21 = A

400 + A*(x-9) = Level´s requirement. x>9

x = the level you want to know.

The best way to calculate is actually to do 400 + A and then keep pressing enter on your calculator until you got all 21 requirements. Otherwise you´ll be off by about 1 or 2 exp cause of round ups.

newgrounds needs a new level system. if you voted on the max 5 subbmissions a day every day it would take you 3864 days or about 10 years to reach level 60. and thats EVERY day.

Another way to look at is that under the present system, it is still vastly easier to level up than it would have been under its predecessor. If I've worked this one out correctly, it would actually take more time to get up from one level to the next previously than it would to even get from level 59 to 60. Granted, the number of people who will be able to feasibly consider the possibility of getting there is very small indeed. I myself would have to wait for 8 or so years to reach that level, by which point, I would not be at all surprised were Newgrounds to be as radically different then as its current version is from the original site. This is partially why I reckon trying to get a reasonable rank in the B/P is easier than the exp. equivalent.

yeah but when i first made my account nearly one year ago i tried at voting 5 a day but soon gave up. so really it would take 5-10 more years. but yes i agree that the one we have now is faster.

No, we don't. Exp shows your dedication to the site. Only people who are here a long time AND keep on voting on flashes can get a high Exp. This is totally fine, because "voting on flashes" is what keeps this site alive (well, at least partly ;) ).

You do realize that the two are effectively the same thing? EXP and levels are inextricably linked, so a change in one system would mean a change in the other, too.

Unless, like Haggard took it, that you mean users need to be able to gain more EXP each day, in which case I suggest you refer to his answer. If anyone could get any amount of EXP they desired each day, then the entire point of the EXP and level system is lost.

Obviously, from the bottom end of the ladder, it seems like an insurmountable goal to reach the higher-end levels, and frankly it will seem even longer if all you're here for is to gain levels. Just enjoy the site - the flash portal, the audio portal, and the BBS - and your ascent to the higher levels will seem all the more rapid as the months go by.
