So anyway, there are a huge amount of people (2 billion people if memory serves) that hate (or don't mind insulting) The good ol' US of A.

But why? Why do so many people like ripping on our cousins to the west?

It's got it's benifits like anywhere else and it's got it's downfalls like anywhere else. It's normal...like anywhere else.

I mean I'm only looking at it as a vacation destination but at least that's better than saying "Ohh! Big, fat dumb peoples over THERE!"

Yeah, I've had something like that, and I'm in the same frame of mind as yourself regarding Americans really. Not only have a met plenty of decent Americans on Newgrounds, but all over the web, as well as meeting up with a few in real life.

Outside of the people, there's the culture. I have a thing about wanting to live in the Midwest right now. It looks so peaceful... Anyway, since I'm a "writer", I'll also note this, although it's an obvious generalisation: I'd rather be influenced by William Burroughs than Emily Bronte. The people can't be that bad.

Personally, I think we Brits especially are pretty unreasonable when it comes to Americans. When many Brits hear "Americans" they'll start with the whole fast food, nuclear bombs, war, fat, etc. It sucks. We even managed to assume in psychology class that Americans in Solomon Asch's famous majority influence would be more conforming than other societies. It maybe true for non-collectivist cultures, but we had no evidence.

Most people hate America solely because:.......We have a stable econmy, we rich enough to actually get fat and then lose the weight, and we have a decent goverment if you forget Bush cuz' hes leaving soon.
