It has the same crit rate as any other melee. What are you on about? It only tends to crit more because you tend to do a lot of damage in a short amount of time with it, but its crit percentage is still at 15%. As for Scouts, depends on how good/bad the Scout is, and lag compensation.

Of course it has the basic crit rate of any other weapon, but the actual crit percentage it has in-game is at least 30% (yes, that's one out of three- and definitely more than the bottle).I can't even count the times that an enemy rushed towards me while I had low health, so I draw the cutter, and slash! there goes his head.

As for the scouts, if we take lag out of the equation (because hitting a lagging scout is nearly impossible anyway), using the 'cutter is easier because of its range, and the fact that most Scouts now have to get in close and have no pistol (except the Shrotstop scouts, but they usually don't bother with Demos)

Wat.

Demo=not a speed based class
Sticky Launcher= sticky jumps make you fly across the map

Skullcutter is alright,

Demoknights suck anyway:P

Well, to be precise demoknighting is difficult because after you get your first kill its easy to be raped by everyone else around but its extremely cheap for the killed one.

Yup :3

Wat.

I am officially a shortstop scout and I love killing these helpless demos. Also Shortstop can make a demo's charge slower since same happens with Natascha(in that case the charge is useless).

Demo=not a speed based class

Speed is good for all classes

Sticky Launcher= sticky jumps make you fly across the map

Sticky Launcher is a cannot not a primarily jump tool.

Dude, stop pulling numbers out of your arse. Skullcutter has 15% chance, with the bonus 10% if you've done >800 damage in the last 20 seconds, same as the bottle or any other standard melee.

Demo=not a speed based class
Sticky Launcher= sticky jumps make you fly across the map

Because sticky jumping everywhere is completely logical isn't it? I'd disagree with Demo not being speed-based as well, you're even more vulnerable to any of the classes with hitscan weapons now, for the slight chance you'll get to melee someone and make use of the extra damage and range.

Basically, for a Sticky Demo, Bottle > Eyelander > Skullcutter

Pan is better

Wait? Achievements in the Beta are at 0% We can unlock them again??

Prepare for your examination!

What sorts of things will we use the beta for, you ask?

Testing and tuning various class, item, and weapon changes
Testing map changes and variants
Running higher level, game-wide experiments (like doubling player health)
Testing new technologies without the risk of breaking the game

The beta is available to anyone that owns a copy of TF2. To install, launch Steam, open the Library and install "Team Fortress 2 Beta" from your games list.

What's in the initial release?

Three Natascha variants:

-40% damage
-25% damage, -25% health
Spin-up/down time increased, slowdown-on-hit effect falls off over distance.

Map changes:

cp_granary: new entrance added into the RED and BLU mid ramp room.
cp_5gorge: 5 CP version of cp_gorge.

Misc balance changes:

Players being healed by a medic are immune to movement-impairing effects generated by hit-scan weapons.

FAQ:

Are there items in the Beta?

On signing into the beta, you'll be automatically granted all the achievement based unlockables. As we add new items for testing purposes, these will automatically be added to your backpack. Random items drop are turned off, and the store will not be available.

Will Beta items be changed or removed?

In response to the feedback on them, items in the Beta may change, or be removed at any time. Don't get too attached to them.

Downloading now. The changes definitely look interesting, especially the Medic one. This effectively means if you have a retard Medic who won't block the sentry's knockback for you, you only need to worry about rocket knockback, and can safely ignore the bullet knockback.

Also, Natascha heavies are now screwed against anyone with a Medic, it seems.

Anyone know if we get a separate backpack for the beta, or is it the same one as we usually have?

From the sound of it, it's all blank, there's no hats and we all get the achievement weapons to start with. TF2 just got fun again.

Oh God. I'm only about 9 off anyway.

Currently downloading the beta myself and should be able to play it when I get back from college in about 2 hours. Also I'm loving the hat changes, especially the new Kabuto. The paint actually looks like I imagined it would when I first wanted to paint it. It's just a shame that you still can't paint the Hotrod...

Dude, stop talking about stuff you know nothing about. You obviously didn't try the cutter long enough to have actual ingame experience, WHICH IS WHAT REALLY COUNTS.
Numbers don't mean shit if what happens ingame is different, and what happens in the game is that -for me- the cutter crits more than the bottle.Period.

Because sticky jumping everywhere is completely logical isn't it? I'd disagree with Demo not being speed-based as well, you're even more vulnerable to any of the classes with hitscan weapons now, for the slight chance you'll get to melee someone and make use of the extra damage and range.

Apart from the fact that some demos do actually jump all over the place, sticky jumping can take you to the frontline faster if there aren't any teleporters around.
And you shouldn't be running in front of bullets in the first place..
Demo is screwed if someone gets in close (again, especially scouts) so it makes perfect sense to have a weapon that is better at that range and can save your life.

Basically, for a Sticky Demo, Bottle > Eyelander > Skullcutter

So having -25 HP is better than being a little slower?Lol.

Pan is better

Ew.The sound the pan makes gets annoying after the first 2 times..
Oh, and happy birthday..I'd gift you something but there's nothing good in the store at the moment.

So I therefore do not accept to download the beta(and do not try to convince me elseway(sits in a corner)).

Also for some reason you start with a Familiar Fez, so you can use the Saharan Spy set.

It's pretty easy to get #1 as Spy, since you get 2 points for each backstab anyway. Same with Medic, and healing/assists.

I would but I'm an americanfag.

Does it even make a difference where someone connects from when doing 1-on-1? I know ping can be a bitch (having experienced issues myself when playing with ParadoxVoid), but that's the only issue I'm aware of.

Depends on the class. And yes, I died one too many times, but overall I basically dominated the scoreboard.

If k/d ration really means that much to you, here's an old score of a game I played as a Battle Engie.

Lolnice:P I try to be battle-engi and my max is 8 kills in one life as him(not my ordinary max).

Also I have seen in the UKCS a new map(pl_metropolisb2) I think, and its really awesome. Basically its one road pushing the cart and every cap has annoying glass walls that leave the attackers one way to attack and lets the defenders one place to defend. But after a point is capped the glass walls lower and they let the attackers to better fortify their positions, plus the defenders to hold and ground taken as retaliation and its really nice :D

Also it has sum new models(yay :D)
