Uh uh.

And yes it is still very easy to kill my enemy with the regular flamethrower, it just usually involves me airblasting them now/hitting them with the flaregun when they are out of range. Something to keep in mind is that the flamethrower did kill enemies too quickly. utilizing your secondary weapon is a very standard from all the classes. Imagine if a soldier didn't have such a small ammo clip for his rocket launcher. Not very much need to finish off his enemies with a shotgun then is there. The same applies for the pyro under different circumstances. I hope you get my point.

Nnnnot really.Wanna know why?Because:
1)Soldier has loads of ammo.
2)What I said before (the grenade example) is still valid
3)The flamer didn't kill enemies too quickly, it's just that most of the time enemies would panic and shoot in all directions, making it very easy for you to flame around. And this (the flaming around) won't change, since it doesn't involve airblasting, which means that you can do it with any flamer.
Moral of the story: there will still be pyros spamming flames everywhere, it's just the flamethrower that's going to change.

I should also note that as a pyro player it has always been stupid, regardless of whether or not you are using the flamethrower or the backburner, to rush the enemy forward. His flamethrower is incredibly shortranged and useless unless flanking the enemy or coming up from behind. I often times think about using the backburner but then I realize the ultimate importance of the airblast for myself and my team.

Hell, I know, but now the BB is going to be the weapon 80% of the players use...just wait and see.

I really can't see it happening. I'd guess that it would be between 50/50 use (which is pretty optimal for weapons so similar in design) since the airblast is such a useful tool to give up. Also, it makes it rather easy to climb the scoreboard if the enemy team are either pyros, soldiers or demomen, thanks to the extinguishing ability, plus minicrits on reflected projectiles makes it extremely useful for combating soldier spam.

On another topic, I think I'm going to have to revise my judgement on the Crit-a-Cola, it's actually really useful if you choose when to use it. I managed to come second on the scoreboard as Scout just earlier, and only managing to cap the intel once (Red were camping their base pretty solidly, and no-one wanted to go Medic to rush them and cap...)

Ok, then think about it this way: how many pyros regularly use the airblast?
That's right, not many. Now imagine that these pyros that don't use it that often switch to backburner, and there you go.

Frankly, the scouts can really make the most out of it.Since we all know that the scout isn't very point-friendly most of the time, this can help him rack up a few more kills...

I like Pyro's new changes. 20% damage increase is quite a bit after playing around with it.

Too bad my TF2 game turned to crap after so much MW2. Can't Spy worth anything now.

My grass went emo, so now I don't have to cut it anymore.
Anyone up for some Team Fortress 2??

How many times have you been raped by a pyro just spamming the airblast and thus dieing from a minicrit?

Also funny story, some pyro was spamming his airblast while i was a soldier, I was coming up on his side, shot a rocket, another pyro/demo were charging him from the front, the pyro caught my rocket in his airblast spam and effectively killed both my team mates XD

ATTN ALL CREW MEMBERS

I got a pm from one of my Steam friends claiming that a website he linked to is an event run by Steam that allows you free games as a new promotion, asking for your password.

THIS WEBSITE IS A SCAM.

I don't know if this was an automated message or what, but it is obviously a scam site due to the URL. If anyone sends you a pm that requests your username and password, don't click it, and consider deleting your 'friend'.

Public service announcement +1

I have previously gotten this a lot. Your "Friend" probably entered his info ina keylogger and gotten his account stolen. Or is possibly sometime trying to steal accounts with said Keylogger.

That aside, all Steam links are directed in the Steam client anyway(?), if they aren't then it's probably a key logger. It isn't even the link itself, just don't enter your information.

And, that isn't really related to TF2. At all. :S

OBJECTION.

TF2 is run off Steam, and is created by VALVe, which also in turn manages Steam. TF2 is also used by Steam for updates and achievement tracking.

THEREFORE, STEAM IS RELATED TO TF2, IN SOME DEGREE.

muhaha

I think this pyro must have been super pro, since it's pretty hard to just spam the airblast and reflect things, there's a fairly narrow window for reflection.

At 5/4/10 06:41 AM, HeavyTank wrote: Hey, I never said that they never use it, I just said that they don't use it regularly enough to make them still keep it even after a massive nerf

But the thing is, they do. I dunno what it's like in European servers, but Pyros and the airblast are actually a major annoyance down under.

From a minicrit?None.Although my sixth sense tells me that there will be a lot more airblast spamming in the future...

The extra 35% damage, and without falloff means that a reflected rocket will nearly kill a soldier at full health, and a couple of shotgun blast should suffice to finish the job. And it more than does the job against demos if you're good at reflecting pipes.

Also, funniest thing is ever is when you get a demo to blow themselves up with their own stickies.

Also, from the "pyro" update I have never seen airblasting pyro(except myself because I crafted my BB:( )
So the era where a BB wielder could easily kill an ordinary-flamer wielder pyro has restarted(if you remember at first pyro update BB gave +50 hp)

I have been playing on some servers and I realsied 90% of all pyros now wields the BB. It is the only item I miss though but I tried soe airblast practicing and the resulst were pretty nice. I managed to kill enough people by airblasting rockets, but when I find the backburner I will try it too to see which fits me the best.
