Anyway, yesterday SMS and I had some fun on 2fort as Engies... we managed to sneak into the enemy intel room and set up in there. If we'd had had a smart team, they wouldn't have ignored me and taken my teleporter. Instead they ignored it for the most part, and we only got 3 caps from it. :/

I want the Soldier unlock to be a shotgun that crits against people in the air, and does half damage to people on the ground.

Shame I wasn't there, whenever I'm scout I spend all the time trying to get the intelligence (which is actually quite easy if tried heaps and heaps, if they aren't good with placing sentries and don't have many good classes you can easily slip past...)

Unless it gets crits while he's in the air, rocket jump, then shotty. But it's usually better to open with your rocket launcher, because it'll probably do more damage.

Well, the unlock for soldier can be tricky, so this is what I think:

A bomb launcher for the RPG that does bigger damage a wider splash damage but reloads slowly has 10 bombs and throws them at artilery style.

For shotgun, 2 unlockables(like the sniper and the spy update):
1st. A machine gun with average damage(it is the only weapon tf2 has not)
2st. A flag that makes the soldier move 30% slower but gives him +20 health and all crits while being under invuln.

Uhm..lolwut?You mean a flag that can be planted on the ground once in a life, and while he's near it he gets bonuses?Leave the all crits, that's way too OP.Let's make it 20% more crit chance and 20% more health, but 50% less speed.That sounds intresting, dunno if it's practical though.

He meant the soldier actually uses it as a melee weapon. At least that's what i gathered from it. Though i agree with what you're saying with maybe raise the crit chance, rather then just all crits when invuln. Being slow as it is already, that's a big waste, unless some asshat runs at you trying to kill you while ubered :/

Actually, I was thinking he meant it as an equippable item like the Razorback. And it would be incredibly unbalanced if it was, since every time you get Ubered, it would be like a free Kritzkrieg as well. And of course, this then makes the Kritzkrieg useless on the 'flag-waving soldiers'.

I always disagreed with the razorback, it didn't really add any more skills to the sniper, in a way though at least he's sacrificing one of his more closer-ranged weapons, and they had the jarate too.

The mini-crit idea isn't too bad Paradox. I reckon it'd have to be really direct though, like when they introduced the ambassador you need to have a direct head shot.

My shotgun would be ridiculous. Shoot a rocket at a foe and pop them in the air, whip out the shotgun and blast 'em into nothing.

Yes, maybe a rocket with *no* splash damage whatsoever that:
Is twice as fast as the normal rocket
Deals 30% more damage and if you hit the head you get a minicrit.
Has a bigger "pushing force" than the normal rocket

This way skilled soldiers can use this to shoot at the enemy's feet and then destroy the enemy while they're in the air, but can't get easy splash kills anymore..seems fair enough.

You could get a good pyro-playing friend to use compression blast while you pulverize them with the shotgun I guess...but like said, all the updates are made to interest players and add a new aspect to players.

To the soldier they'll probably add a completely different weapon with different mechanics..not grenades though, Valve already cleared that they wouldn't have grenades in the game, besides the demo already has the pipe bombs which are close enough.

A rocket launcher with no splash wouldn't make much sense, since an explosion is bound to cause splash damage.. though I think I'd definitely use it for the extra attack and speed.

More towards my own idea of a flack jacket that reduces explosion damage, but it disintegrates after say 200 damage? It would make rocket jumping far easier and well worth it.

Anyone got tips on fighting soldiers as a heavy? It's so hard...they have a really decent amount of health and always stand far away from you shooting all over your big frame.

I can take one of them on alone even if they keep hiding, but when their whole team starts joining in it gets hard.
