The shotgun would get replaced for sure. While awesome, it's just a generic placeholder weapon for the classes.

If there's any class that doesn't need an update, it's soldier. Except for maybe some better phrases and a shotgun that actually cocks.

Hey, I just got TF2 last week and found this club.

My favorite classes are probably Scout, Sniper and Spy.

Yeah. Is anyone else getting lots of items they already have? I have 3 jarates, 2 backburners, 2 razorbacks, 2 ambassadors, 2 cloak and daggers etc. I really want the Sandman and FON but haven't got them yet.

The Soldier has the most awesome phrases ever. He just needs the class-specific domination messages like the Scout has.

Ever since my computer bombed, I haven't started up Hammer again, but I did today.

Working on a CP defense map that centers around a tower with five levels, the final two being rather small ones.

I just don't know where to put the CPs. I thought about and ascending pattern, but then when the first floor falls, RED gets rolled.

So I'm thinking about spacing a few caps around the tower, then having the final one at the top of the tower itself.

The tower has multiple holes and will have a few protusions to help defend the preceding caps.

I'm probably out of my mind. Knocking won't make me get to the door any faster.

What is "Last one alive lock the door" even supposed to mean?

Have the tower be the the only part of the map, with environmental deaths from falling off. Maybe even some sort of movement buff on the outside to work as wind gusts, idk. Good luck on figuring out the CPs, game balancing is a part of games people always underestimate.

Well, personally I would try to avoid a tower, but if it is what you want, I would say have one or two points around the outside of the tower with the final at the top.

I love the soldier's phrases they make me perk up and put a little extra edge in my game. I would like to see the class specific dominations they release. The soldier could do with more phrases.

To be quite honest, I'm quite the novice of a map maker.

I haven't ever completed one, due to technical difficulties. I've gotten as far as keeping leaks (spaces in boundaries that break the map) from happening, but I can't even make a control point right, let alone have wind gusts.

Also wondering if that same map could work for arena...

I'm probably out of my mind. Knocking won't make me get to the door any faster.

I've hit a roadblock. I made another map, and I tried to run it in TF2. It compiles correctly, but when TF2 opens, it refuses to run the map. It doesn't do it when it starts, something my earlier map does correctly, and it doesn't do it when I create a server with it, something the earlier map also does correctly.

Now that I am thinking it, the shotgun may be replaced by a rapid fire carabine that can spot spies from very close(it makes a characteristic sound), and the pistol can be replaced for a machine medi-gun that keeps healing sentries e.t.c.( smth like that they use to stick metals together).

I believe that instead of shotgun the soldier will get a machine gun. It is the only kind of weapon that misses from TF2 and it perfectly fits to the soldier image.

I just finished some EPIC rounds at TF2. There were hacker medics, n00b enemies, everything was cool. Godlikes and Monsterkills were raining, IT WAS THE EPICEST TF2 ROUND I HAVE EVAR PLAYED.

That's why some weapons have downsides to them....like the rocket launcher could do some special knock back or extra impact or radius of some sort but then it could have less ammo, reloading time or damage.

If you check the Steam forums, its mostly 12 year old kids that hate the fact that the enemy classes own them, or that they think the Pyro is female, or the Medic is overpowered. Hell, they want to make the unlockable weapons the Medic has worthless/useless(remove passive regeneration, damage Medic every time when hitting the enemy with Ubersaw, make the Ubersaw give 15% uber and damage the Medic for 25 health, or 25%). I am sure the Medic isn't overpowered, maybe its because they suck.

Here is a hint, W+M1 gets you fucking killed by Heavies, backpeddling Medics, smart Pyros, Sentries, basically someone who isn't a retard. And the Pyro is most likely NOT HUMAN or a horribly disfigured burn victim(and they refer the Pyro as it now, not he or she, but it).

Then again, the Steam forums can be funny, if you like to laugh at pissed off people for being killed because a Medic was able to kill them, or they died to the Heavy because they tried W+M1 as the Pyro, and claiming Medic or Heavy or Pyro is overpowered and should be nerfed to the point they are worthless to play as because they said so and they got killed by one.

I admit it I am not that good as a pyro, this was just luck, I am good as a Heavy though, but if the 12 years old think that if they are spies and medics find them and kill them, so they think that the enemy is overpowered or they say it just to find a self-excuse for their epic n00bness.

IT IS IMPOSSIBLE that VALVe may add smth that damages the user, especially at TF2 where life points are pure gold. I was on a Heavy round and I was owning an engineer who was rushing at me, and then he said that the heavy is overpowered and he needs 50 health and a gun that does 0.0001 damage per bullet. Can anyone imagine this?

If so, then the Steam forums is definitely shit. If they uncloak where the enemy can see them, or disguise as an enemy Medic while the enemy sees them, and if they get killed, the class is not overpowered, you just suck and retarded for uncloaking/disguising as a medic when YOU ARE IN FRONT OF THE FUCKING ENEMY. They want Valve to hold their hand and save their ass from being owned and raped by good players. Speaking of moronic players.

It's so easy to get mad at people when they go sniper. Too easy.

I was just playing warpath, on a Doorman server, and my team dominated the other one the past two rounds. The first was an all-out roll (complete with Rick Astley), the second was a stalemate at their last point melee SD.

The reason we stalemated at their last point was the same reason all Warpath stalemates happen. Too. Many. Snipers.

We had four snipers on that stalemate, two of which had switched from medic. So we now had one puny medic with four snipers. It's the perfect thing for starting a game of warpath.

No surprise, we get rocked in the battle for the Bridge. We didn't stand a chance with four of our team members standing around with their scopes in their eyes and their thumbs up their asses. Five minutes later, no change in the amount of snipers, we were defeated by a spycap.

My flames of fury had already flared, so I ranted at my team again about the importance of medics to offensive efforts. It's something I do when I (rarely) get truly angry.

Of course, this one person was just telling me to stop whining, as our snipers continued to prove my point.

Eventually, I decided to go with the "fuck this" option and went medic.

The addition of another uber gave us enough push to cap the third point. I left when we got the fourth point.

Heavytank, I agree with you that removing one class would ruin the game, but I disagree in the case of the Sniper.

SNIPER RANT

I don't hate good snipers. When I get dominated by a sniper because they're skilled, I'm alright with that. Good snipers have saved my life and provided valuable support in killing that overhealed heavy rounding the corner.

I hate bad snipers. I hate bad snipers. They're dead weight. The only way I've seen they can kill something is if they band together and attempt to bodyshot a single person to death. If they try to go for the head, they miss, because they're bad.

They don't even help in an offensive, when they should. I've had to take every single person out to take the Warpath bridge (which is an open range for snipers) with the help of team mates. Guess which one didn't help out at all.

I must repeat the situation I'm so pissed about. Four snipers. One medic. I'd like to know just what they were thinking.

However, I already know. Bad snipers aren't worried about their team. They want to win, but they want their team to do it for them while they piss in each others mouth and move up after the next point is captured. Even engineers sit around and still help the team.

I am truly confused about what makes people switch to sniper. Let's look at the list of things a mediocre player could play.

Heavy+Demo+Soldier+Pyro- Even spam does something.

Medic- No need to explain.

Engineer: Even if an uber takes out your stuff, it delays the advance of the opposition.

Spy- Nobody bad at spy plays long enough to drag the team down.

Scout- Annoying to other team, BONK can help even if player has no talent.

Sniper- NOTHING.

Bad snipers are just bait, at best. For enemy snipers. See, bad snipers have this odd theory where they think outnumbering good snipers two to one will somehow let them beat them. It doesn't work that way.

There should NEVER be more snipers than medics. Medics score more points than snipers, and are an immense help to their team. There is nothing funner than ubering somebody and coming out top of the list because of your heal-induced killing spree. Somehow, people constantly forget the necessity and potential of playing medic.

Why from medic to sniper, I don't know. I've seen players switch from medic to any class but sniper and still have good performance.

I've concluded that useless snipers that can't realize that they're ruining other people's chances of winning aren't just inobservant, they're selfish.

Selfish creatures who are trying to get dominations they'll never get, wasting other people's time by catching fire and screaming for a medic. They aren't team players- they want to be independent, but they lean on the rest of the team so much because they really can't do anything.

Next time you go on a server and there are four or more snipers (unless said server is 2fort or sniper oriented map like Orange), refuse to heal the snipers. Maybe the only way the message will get through their skulls is if flames boil their brains out to where they can hear it.

I'm probably out of my mind. Knocking won't make me get to the door any faster.

Well, I was just on Goldrush and we were defending. And I was a sniper and I made a new record for 3-4 headshots at every life. But the subject was, that ehgineers were rushing and trying to defeat heavies e.t.c.

And when I was dominating with headshots and engineer, he sent a message to his admin friend and he kicked me. I hate it when some people when they cannot win they ask their "buddy" to do the hard work.

That is SOOOOO cowardly...admin abuse is the gayest thing someone can do in the whole game...
Like some "admins" (people that pay some money to become ones) that use admin console commands and you can't complain because they will ban you.
The abuse of power has always been an issue, in online games AND in the real world...

Also, Kurofelis, removing the sniper wouldn't help at all because there will be nobody to defend your base from a long distance, so you'll get more enemies AND more spies behind your back..

Well, I still have to facepalm when I see the Steam forums. Most want the Pyro to be nerfed, or the Heavy to be worse at killing, or have the Medic be worse at surviving. Reason, they want it or they suck as Medic, or they get killed by one. Instead of wanting 4 balanced weapons(Syringe might increase passive healing or does something useful for the Medic, bonesaw can increase ubercharge rate), they want the Medic to lose passive health regeneration when using blunt, and the ubersaw to have no crits, or even to damage the Medic if it hits.

Like I said, the class is not OP, you just suck or decided that W+M1 was a good idea to use against a Medic. Hey, while we're at it, lets have the medic take damage when firing weapons, make the weapons heal the enemy, make every class have a weapon that can stop/destroy ubers, and make the Medics have 10 health. Then they will STILL complain the Medic is overpowered. Either learn how to fucking play, learn how to defend your Medic, OR STOP FUCKING BITCHING FOR BEING KILLED BY A HEAVY OR MEDIC BECAUSE YOU WERE USING THE W+M1 TACTIC.

Then again, Steam forums is filled with 12, I'm sorry, 10 year olds that somehow got TF2 that acts like fucking 3 year olds that complain about fucking everything.

In other words, in their minds, if they die by someone, they get pissed off and say "THAT CLASS IZ OP CUZ I DIED FRM THM N I NVR DIE." If one of them came on a server that I was an admin of, and yelled that they were killed and that the class that killed them was OP, I will either silence them, or ban them for being a retarded W+M1 fucker.
