Nope, so long as there's religion and politics.

often Utopia An ideally perfect place, especially in its social, political, and moral aspects

After reading that on www.dictionary.com, answer is no. Let's face, humans are not perfect, the world isn't perfect. Besides, if life was and there were no evils, would be pretty boring?

Morally wrong to have pre marital sex, socially wrong to lie. Goes on and on, I'm not encouraging such things, just saying, those are the things that make life non standard and worth wild to understand or even live.

A utopia would be a place where no one is trying to make a utopia.

Aside from people's definition proof, it's just not feasible. Unless you replaced humans with robots that only had VI, maybe. But the nature of living things is not Utopiaic (I think I made up this word).

Utopia is a society based on a human concept of what perfection is; basically... the LACKING of existence of things which humans have to deal with throughout their lives.

You don't like Gravity because it makes things drop and causes you to become frustrated, so you invision, in a society of 'perfection' [Things being done exactly as intended [And INTENTION goes to the interpretation of the thinker] that such things as gravity would not exist.

A utopia is the image of a world that has nothing that we don't like... We CANNOT exist in a world of perpetual happiness by changing the things around us. we can only change our minds to be less afflicted by the banes of society and as a result making us more satisfied with our existence and the world.

No, there won't be.

If people have nothing to work towards, then society can't be perfect, but if people have to go through hardships, that means society can' be perfect either.

Its a valid point. So long as there is more than one religion, there will always be a minority who just cant get along. Calls of my religion > your religion get out of hand and conflict abounds.

Same with politics.

As soon as we invent robots that are capable of replacing humans in the workforce, we will be able to benefit from unlimited wealth, healthcare, education etc... If the ratio of these slave robots to humans was like 5 to 1, then that means that each one of us would have a work power of 5 robots (which would be far more efficient than human power). SO I guess, things would amound such that each human would have the human-power of like 15 humans or more (depending how skilled the robots are compared to humans) at their disposal on a daily basis. If you put a dollar value on that, then that's 15 salary's worth for each human, which would amound to something like $600,000+ a year without lifting a finger...

But animals and plants have no concept of a utopia, and there arent any humans left to say "yeah thats a utopia" so its still not.

Realistically it's as close to impossible as you can get without it being ruled out forever.

The only way a utopia could exist is if everyone had the same thinking on everything. People would also have to be more lax on what bothers them, annoys them, disturbs them, etc, otherwise everything would have to be wiped out forever.

Essentially it is the way in which we think that stops a utopia from happening. In fact the world we live in now may be a utopia, we just don't know it.

Actually he's wrong, because Religion and Politics are natural human behaviors.

Way to sound like an idiot.

In case you haven't noticed, "natural behaviours" don't make for a Utopia.

Allow me to elaborate:

Humans needed something to help explain the unexplainable. Since science wasn't around in old times, this gave way to religion. When people of different religions met, they went on claiming their religion was right and their god had a bigger dick than the other guy's god, and this gave way to war.

Humans have opinions. When people with different opinions meet, they clash. Thus is the general idea behind politics.

This is what I meant when I said that utopia was impossible as long as there is religion and politics. The only way utopia is possible is if we had a hive mind.

I declare myself winner of the thread.

Never. Even assuming that it was possible, perfection would render us inhuman.

The first thing people say when you ask that question is a good resounding "NO!"
But isn't that limiting? By assuming we won't ever reach it, we have created a self-fulfilling prophecy (I believe it is called) and we will never make it there.

The road to perfection is hard and almost impossible to find, but I believe that if we try, we might make it there.

At the end of the day, we have to at least keep tweaking the system we have created for ourselves rather than assume we can't do better.

I think it's a goal we should strive for. People are too fatalistic. I have hope there'll be a utopia.

Like I said earlier: the only way utopia could ever be achieved is if we all established a hive mind. If you don't know what I mean, refer to the Borg from Star Trek and watch how they work.

You don't think it's possible that we could come up with a society that allows people to have differing opinions? Or that there's a society that's more sensible and workable than any other? Like, maybe we could have a global community that still has seperate cultures.
