A little advice, try playing around with different styles. Not that I hate anime or anything, but it helps you become a better artist.

It's good for what it is. However; I think you should open up his eyes. ^__^ eyes look like a bit of a cop out to me, and yes, the hair is too typical

I know that I've to try out many different styles to become a better artist. Just want you to know, that I agree with you, specially at this point. And I am drawing other stuff but anime, you know. Mostly cartoony. :)

I like the hair, not normally, but just because it goes with the simple look of the picture. It all goes together. With a more detailed picture, you'd want better hair.

you can change a little bit the lighting in the hair and add shades to the face and neck but overall i dont see anything bad

I'm glad someone said that, the hair's shading looks smooth, it should be a little choppy.

Well, I know it's not perfect yet, but I'm mostly experimenting drawing with a wacom (what looks good, what doesn't, what if I did like this, or..).

About the hair.. I agree that it's too typical. :)
About the smooth shading.. well.. I know it's not very anime-ish, but I pretty much seem to like it and I don't want my characters to look exacly like "they're ment to look", you know? In many ways the way I shade the hair is properly "wrong", but.. isn't that the way most artists creates "their own unic style"?

(Yeah.. I know. Didn't change the hair. Most of you would properly ask why I didn't, but I don't want to waste my time on that right now! I've to run (literaly). There's a Taekwondo tournament coming up this Sunday and my condition could be better!)

Apart fromt he fringe looking to "Clumped" it's a nicely drawn image, and i kinda agree with Bmk looks 20x better with the eyes opened up.

I think that one is much better, the open eyes made a big difference. You should try it with shorter hair though. At least just try it.

The reason that I've been a little insecure about the hair are right below:

I'm making some kind of a Sim/Fighting game (a mix between a typical sim game, a fighting game (like the Dragonball Budokai video games) and stick RPG.. ---> Will be telling more about it on MY USERPAGE soon).
The character I've been showing you are the main character (the character you'll control through the game. I've also made up about 11-13 other unic characters which the player will be able to interact with.. 5 Bachelors and 5 Rivals.. I kind of got this thing from the Harvest Moon video games..) and the player will be able to buy new HAIRSSTYLEs/HEADWEAR, SHIRTs, JACKETs and PANTS that the character can wear.

SHORT (and making sense compared to ^):
The reason for not changing his "original" hair is that I've already made almost every single of his sprites (Fighting/Overworld sprites) with it. And I'm not good at making sprites so it would be a absolutely waste of time to redo all of them! If I had someone to make the sprites for me it would be a piece of cake, but I simply haven't! :(
