I'm curious as to what drives all your speculation. Isn't it ultimately more satisfying to find out the way you're supposed to, ya know, by seeing the damn movie?

They've got so much hype around it, and they've got everyone worked up. Even if it sucks though, you have to give them credit for generating this much interest.

No n, what they're doing IS viral marketing. Viral marketing is setting up a BUNCH of secrets to get people talking, keeping the whole thing VERY VERY mysterious, so more and more people will look into it, and eventually go see the movie.

The more secretive and under wraps you keep a movie, yet leak tiny details out, the more people are going to be interested in it, the more money you make.

That IS viral marketing, and JJ Abrams pulled it off very well, or we wouldn't have this thread going right now.

The 2 sites I linked to are part of their viral marketing campaign. The Slusho one, if you go to the "History" part of the site, talks about how someone discovered how to make fish giant or some weird shit like that. And in the trailers, there's a guy wearing a slusho shirt.

The second link is probably more about the origin of the monster. It talks about bases in the middle of the ocean and stuff. Probably Genetic Engineering or something. I've done a bunch of searches and found some interesting stuff that's hard to explain at times.

I'm bored of searching now since it's getting me almost no where. I wish if you searched hard enough in a site, it would suddenly unlock an easter egg or something with some exclusive information about the movie, but it doesn't.

From now on, I'm just gonna wait till it comes out.

Actually, the answer is actually pretty clear to me I would say.

There is a chemical in Slusho, an addictive chemical that also has positive effects on fish.

Maybe if they took a more refined version of this substance, rather than in a frozen japanese drink, it may have some other effects to some of the larger fishies. Maybe it might speed up evolution a bit, give that whale some legs?

Overall, the entire viral campaign has a theme of fishies and the chemicals in Slusho are too strange to just ignore.

Ok, I think I've got it.

The people who made the movie said they want it to be a secret, right? Yet, there's all these sites about the movie everywhere probably put up by them. So, what I think is, all the hints on the sites are just to throw you off. There's probably not Tagruato or however you spell it, no Slusho, no anything. It's just to throw people off the scent. That's my theory.
