There are a lot of forums that create music, and that have created several Stepmania packs.
Now, I've been thinking.
I know this is the wrong forum, I actually should be asking in Audio, but I just want to know if there is anyone who supports this idea.
Anyway, what we would need for this:
-A bunch of skilled step-creators, or people who at least have half a brain-cell.
-Good music from the AP
-Photoshoppers who are willing to create backgrounds/banners etc. for the game.
(If you've played the game yourself, you'll know what I mean).
Official StepMania website.
FAQs and tutorials.
Maybe this would work.
It's an excellent opportunity to show off your hard work :)
I know it's exactly the same thing I posted in General, but it's better here :)
I may be able to help by creating steps, but that's for later.
For now, I just want to know if there are enough people interested in this.

The whole fucking post.
It's not that big, and you should be able to read it.
Then, at the bottom of the post, it says something similar to 'I posted this in General first, blahblahblah'
Then, look at the second post I made.
It's not that damn hard to read, is it?

Sick man! I've been thinking about making a thread like this! I LOVE Stepmania... And I have a lot of songs! It would be great to get some NG authors into it! I already have songs from Eon, ParagonX9, Cornandbeans, and g-r4ve... but it would be cool if we could get more.
In my opinion, the first thing we should do is make a list of songs that would fit the game. That means catchy, fast songs that get people dancing! I might work on a few Stepfiles, but I'm not too good yet.
Good idea though, I'd LOVE to see this happen! :)

Use any of my songs for FFR.
Oh-- just wanted to tell you that I started stepping [GloW], and I'm also gonna try [DigiTaL] soon.
BTW: Do you have an account on FFR? That would make things much more simple for me, since I go there more than here.

Amazing how someone can dance that fast like that. I'd like to help, but I dunno if I can make that kind of music or not. I usually don't do fast tempo songs.

FFR sucks cock. The game lags and it sucks immensely. Get Stepmania... it's beautiful, it looks EXACTLY like the DDR you see on arcade machines... in fact, it is used on arcade machines!

Looks like you have support for the idea.
Step 1: completed.
My suggestion would be to make a Myspace, Facebook or something else to "harbor" this collaboration. As the creator of this thread you are officially the Director.
The reason I suggested someplace like Myspace is it would be much more easy to categorize things that need to be established. For example, have a bulletin hosting which songs people would like to see, another for who's up for doing steps to the songs, etc. etc.
I'd be willing to dedicate my time to do a song. When I say A SONG i mean, beginner, intermediate, and expert settings.
Also, I have stepmania 3.9....Is there a newer version?

The 4.0 Beta is the newest... don't get it. 3.9 is the best for universal compatibility. Yeah, groups would be a good idea, but not all of us have myspace or facebooks... How about a C&C forum thread?

Someone made a Stepmania mix for one of my songs for a contest back in 06. PM me about it and I'll let you know which one, I'd rather say privately since I don't want to be pointed at for advertising my music.

Ah, yeah, I think I saw that before... I knew I recognized that name!
Link to the track on stepmania.com!
The guy who did that also did a lot of ParagonX9, and other Newgrounds authors. He's pretty good!

I'd help if I knew how to make decent stepfiles. There's a bunch of songs I'd like to see made into stepfiles that I haven't seen done yet.

Okay then.
So Step 1 (ironically called step, olol) is completed.
There are enough people that are interested in this idea.
So here's Step 2.
We need to create a list of tracks from the AP that are nice SM tracks.
It deosn't matter if it's fast-paced or not, because it's the steps (the Stepmania files get called that way, for people who don't know) that make a song difficult.
As for the MySpace idea, what exactly is that supposed to do?
May sound cocky, but I don't mean it that way ;)
But you mean creating a MySpace for the NG StepMania group or something and advertising our steps?
Maybe somebody else should try that, because I can only access the Dutch version of MySpace, ot knowing if it would work in other countries.
I'll try to get a bit useful in creating steps, if you know other people who are interested, and are able to create steps or graphics for songs, PM me about it.
I know there are a few songs out there that are already 'stepped', but WE are NG :)

Ok, I'll start getting good tracks...
I'm trying to stay away from Cornandbeans... he has so many tracks done already! ParagonX9 has also been done to death.
B0UNC3 has some fast paced stuff that would be perfect for SM...
I'll be here for you - easy steps, as it's pretty rhythmic.
Sing a Song[Instrum] - This is another good song, in DDR's favorite genre - Happy Hardcore!
Zero-Bass has some nice stuff too... lots of fast-paced songs.
Death Ecstasy - this could work.
Burnin' Love -This could work too.
API has some more hardcore drum and bass stuff... I might be able to get higher quality versions, if I ask nicely :P
Bloodwax - could definitely work. It would be hard, though.
I also have mp3s of some of his more recent songs... they might work too...
That's all I have for now... I guess.

This might be an alternative to stepping them ourselves.
It would allow us to get a lot more songs, and faster. I will, however, start stepping a song tonight, probably Paradise on E.

Oh, god, no, for the love of everything sacred!
Dancing Monkeys is NOT a good idea. I swear! A 10-year-old would step better than dancing monkeys.
Seriously, if you want decent steps that sortof make sense, let someone make them, not a program!

I think this is a great idea! I've been browsing the forums for days trying to find good ones to step for FlightMix... which is one of the main reasons I joined.
I've considered stepping Dreamscaper's Forged On (again), synteza's Hills and Wolves, and cornandbeans's {Blinded}
... so I could help.
Be warned, I LOVE BPM gimmicks, so I may make a file that can't be played on 4.0... possibly for fun... with negative BPMs. I'll try sticking to stop runs if I have to.
Am I posting?! I didn't know I did that...
