Haha that was a pretty good concept you got there, too bad the heads were a little choppy being put on the bodies like that.
Here's a guide that shows how to move a head to another body, in video format!
Good-tutorials.com is really neat for finding a lot of photoshop guides, I use it pretty frequently when making pictures.
Although the one I made was quite simple, two layers, one on the kid and the other one the earth.
I made the opacity on the earth to 0%, then I just used the polygonal lasso tool to cut the areas around the fingers.
