ok my sister got a mac, but shes getting a new PC for her birthday. (she's in college) so she's giving me the mac. It doesn't have the newest OS because it doesn't have a DVD-R/RW drive.
so... I know alot about PC's but i dont know alot about mac's... all i know is theres not many viruses for them, and you can use PC software.
so, is there some things i NEED to know?

Well, get used to using f9 - f11. Press 'em, see what they do.
Also, get used to the fact that closing an application does not mean you terminate it. You have to manually quit them. Your program commands (like "file" and "edit") will change as you click on and bring programs into focus.
Find a USB mouse if you can't break the habit of right clicking. Otherwise, get used to CMD-clicking.
Shift-funnyapplebutton-3 = screenshot. -4 = cropped screenie.
Have fun.

Simple and sturdy warning...prepare for no gaming, irrating little changes that piss you off...and of course who can forget the "trying to find the right click" if you have never used a mac before.
Prone to typos.

USB mouse is the best way to go.

Mac mouses have had a right-click for awhile now. But if it's an old Mac you can just plug in a USB mouse and use that. And Macs can play games, they just can't play Crysis maxed at 30 FPS (though Macbook Pros can at medium settings). I have a last-gen iMac and I can easily play C&C3 at the highest quality with no lag under Vista, and most of the time when I play WoW I'm above 100 FPS, sometimes around 160 FPS with everything maxed.
Also, before anybody starts saying Macs just don't get viruses because they're unpopular, that's an obvious load of shit. They don't get viruses because they're more secure, and based on Unix. If somebody made a real virus for the Mac it'd make the news (which did happen, but it was for a contest, used a hole in a Safari beta and wasn't able to do anything severe), that's more than enough motivation.
