The most recent form of State Secession was when the Confederate States secessed from the United States and did so for more reasons beyond just the issue of slavery. It was from too high of taxes to too much of government power.
What if a scenario like this were to happen again with some of our present day issues such as the health care system, foriegn policy, ecomonics, and so on. The opinion has varied so much through out the US that there would be more than two countries would seperate from the US.
But hypothetically speaking, let's that the countries do seperate but set an agreement with a non-aggression treaty, and leave everyone alone until something else happens.
So just a question: Who would be seceding to what kind of country? I've got info about the Republic of Cascadia consisting the proposed State of Jefferson, Oregon, Washington, British Columbia, and possibly Alaska too if they're lucky.

They seceded mostly because southern states wanted rights, but northern states wanted less rights (btw, you can see the birthplaces of liberalism and conservatism here). Now, the states have rights over certain things, so they probably won't secede.

Where did you get that map from? And I would appreciate it if you could explain the logic between the different boundaries.

And say to all the world, THIS WAS A MAN!

It is from the game called Shattered Union
And I would appreciate it if you could explain the logic between the different boundaries.
I will start with the Blue area: This area is the European Union "Peacekeepers" Occupation. Made up of the states of Maryland, Delaware and parts of Virgina, West Virgina and New Jersey.
Territories: Eastern Shenandoah
Light Green: They are called the New England Alliance. Made up of parts or all New York, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Maine, Vermont, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Connecticut.
Territories: New York, Northern New England, Ohio Valley
Gray: The Confederacy. Made up of the former states of Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Tennessee, and Kentucky.
Territories: The Carolinas, The Cumberlands, Greater Florida, Mississippi Delta States
Yellow: Great Plains Federation. Made up of all or parts of the former states of Minnesota, Ohio, Michigan, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Wisconsin, Kansas, Nebraska, North Dakota, and South Dakota.
Territories: Central Heartland, Dakotas, Great Lakes Territory, Great Plains
Red: Republic of Texas: Made up of parts or all of Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Missouri.
Territories: New Mexico Territory, North Texas Oklahoma Grasslands, Southern Texas
Green: Pacifica. Made up of parts or all of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, and Colorado.
Territories: Arcadian Plains, Central Cascades, Northern Cascades, Southeastern Arcadia
That summom it up for you.

Red: Republic of Texas:
Just to let you know The ownly similarity this Confederacy has with the last one is geogarphy, their ideals are different.
Confedederacy: To the Confederacy, the war is an attack on tradition, and the acts of all other factions are treasonous. Though viewed by the rest of the factions as backwards and stubborn, the Confederacy is actually quite progressive, employing highly advanced armaments like the energy-focused Lee tank, and has little in common with the first Confederacy, apart from geography.
Republic of Texas: Though regarded as beer-swilling cowboys and gun toting rabble, Texans are also known to live by no-nonsense rules and take a dim view of traitors and bureaucrats. Texans are surprisingly advanced as far as technology goes, employing such weapons as the monstrous Hood plasma-cannon tank and experimental cybernetic infantry.

Well logically, the technology level should be about the same for all those reasons, although I'd imagine Virginia/Maryland would have the best military tech, since that's where most of the big military contractors and a whole lot of the bases are.

As of today, I don't see any social issue that would divide America like that, although the game's story line provides for the most plausible way I could see secession going down.
I'd predict the war to be a relatively even match between the New England guys the European Union (Maryland/Virginia) people. Although the story as presented on Wikipedia doesn't explain why the states are fighting each other, rather than just going their separate ways.

No they wont, during the American Civil War the north and south (despite both sides being American) were very different in not only beliefs but lifestyle which led to the civil war.
Now the north and south, and pretty much the whole country is equally dispersed with enough people of different opinions that no side has a majority of a single belief.
Faith tramples all reason, logic, and common sense.
PM me for a sig.
