The obvious:
1. Politicians will philander, lie, cheat, steal, and get re-elected.
2. Winter will be cold
3. Predictions will be grim for the future
4. Prices will rise

The possible:
1. Reps will win again in 2008, because the Dems just can't get their shit together as usual.
2. The US will enter a new war, in a new theater to fight the War on Terror. Questions and comparisons ensue.
3. China and India will rise quickly as the US begins a slow decline (for whatever reason), creating a new global environment with the myth of US invulnerability popping.
4. Congress and world politics in general will remain unchanged. The UN and EU will still play games, the US government will continue to talk big and still accomplish only minor and inconsequential changes. Major world and national issues will continue to sit in the corner collecting dust.
5. The gap between the rich and the poor will rise, creating problems nationwide for the declining middle class. Job exportation and continued immigration will lead to more states and cities running out of money. Michigan type situations will start to rise.
6. A terror attack will occur in Europe. For a month afterward (but not beforehand), the news will report on terror attacks stopped in Europe and the US.
7. Pakistan will become the focus of Mid East foreign US politics. Meanwhile Saudi Arabia and Israel will do something stupid that we overlook.
8. Israel will bomb Iran.

The absurd:
1. The US government will do a 180, and become extremely efficient and dependable. Public opinion of the US worldwide will be at the same levels it was at immediately following 9/11: Worldwide approval and admiration.
2. The US economy will rebound for the mid and low classes, increasing the overall quality of life for all Americans.
3. Someone, somewhere, somehow will catch Osama Bin Laden and Al-Qaeda will surrender.

Democrats wins the 2008 election due to certain people mistaken McCain for one

An Irish Priest from the 2004 Olympics will try to interrupt a Super Bowl game before getting tackled

No Hall of Fame for Pete Rose once again

Chechen terrorists attempts to blackmail the US into supporting them until they got by Cheney after being mistaken for flocks of deers

Terrorists will once again won't realize their leader Osama is hiding in a cave while they're doing the dirty works on becoming " martyrs "

- Gordon Brown will take the UK Prime Ministers spot as the US Presidents lapdog.

- Knife crime in the UK won't go down.

- Gun crime in the UK will rise.

- Oil prices will sky rocket over the next few years, gas prices will follow.

- House prices will continue to soar, putting off record numbers off first time buyers. (Applicable to the UK, I don't know what prices are like on the other side of the Atlantic)

- A politician will be involved in an affair and after a few months will be sacked.

- The UK will turn to either Coal or Nuclear power for fuel over the next couple of years.

That's my predictions for the next year or so.

Someone halfway decent (somewhere anyways, I'm sure as hell not one of those folks and neither is anyone here) will do something that will actually have a positive impact on the world and someone will find out and steal their idea. Like Pythagoras.

No matter who wins the presidency I will be dissapointed, because this time around it's not "whose the best" candidate, it's "who sucks the least".

Stephen Colbert won't win the presidency, but shall continue to be a silly bitch.

Dane Cook shall make snarky comments about being married, various pets, and cars.

The media is full of bias, mainly liberally slated. That's why I always take the news with a big grain of salt.

Let's see:

* Gordon Brown will continue to vindicate John Major, a decade and a half too late.
* The BNP will say something clever for the first time in their history. It'll be Nick Griffin offeringto get a round of pints in for both members of the party not under arrest.
* The US Presidential Election will feature a lot of soundbites and empty platitudes, but no policies.
* Nobody will accept that Democracy is the best (nee only) form of Government, no matter how hard Pakistan strive to prove this is the case.
* In Kenya, the third-placed candidate is handed the election in a vain attempt to stop the supporters of the winner and "winner" from killing each other.
* Tony Blair will have the sunroof on every car in his Middle East Peace Envoy fleet soldered shut, a solid board nailed on top of it, then encased in lead.
* He'll do the same for all his cars back home, just in case.
* The last of Bush's friends are snatched in the night by Zionists.
* David Cameron accidentally gets elected as US President, due to his overuse of soundbites and empty platitudes.
* Osama bin-Laden makes his first appearance in a long time, as the nice judge on Taliban's Got Talent.

Venezuela, Pakistan, North Korea and Cuba will go dramatic government style changes, much to the dismay of their leaders. Israel and Palestine will continue peace talks, but with no solution in sight. George W. Bush will live out his last year as president just staying the course, so that if the Democrats win the election, they can see how tough it is to run a country during such a difficult time.

Oh yeah, and I will continue to not like a single candidate for the presidency.

Barack Obama wins nomination, will choose either Al Gore, Jon Edwards, Joe Lieberman (not my idea but someone else's) or someone we've never heard of before as his running mate.

Ron Paul will not get nomination but will get more votes then most people thought.

Someone else in the republican nomination will see a great comeback and may even capture nomination (I'm thinking Fred Thompson).

Mccain will largely be ignored during attack ad season.

Gravel will not drop out of the race.

The writer's strike will end in april much to the dismay of daily show fans (like myself)

Al sharpton will NOT get too involved with the election but will cause a mini fuss when Don Imus returns (if he hasn't already).

Home will be delayed again.

There will be at least noticeable differences between the 360 and PS3 versions of GTA IV much debate will follow (most of it fanboys yelling at each other).

Hillary Clinton will fail to succefully appeal to the youth vote (seems like a given)

Jon Edwards will gain some momentum (at least enough that he's considered a major candidate and not a 'no-chance' candidate)

1. The writer's strike will end, but disappointingly unresolved.
2. England will have more trouble with radicals and their attacks.
3. The drought will be worse this summer.
4. Armenia will do phenomonal at the summer olympics.
5. The Red Sox will have a losing streak.
6. Eminem will step back into the spotlight.

Godwin's law will not take effect for any thread in the politics forum (except maybe this because someone will undoubtedly scream Nazi just to prove me wrong).

* There is a ban on irritating buzzwords, notably "carbon footprint" and "globesity", isntead they are replaced with more functional words, such as "selfish polluting bastard(s)" and "morbidly obese motherfucker" respectivly.
* Gordon Brown still declines to call a General Election, further allowing David cameron to score big points cheaply and easily.
* Obama fades in the Democrat contendership race.
* Iraq declares war on Iran.
* 207 people are killed in a gun massacre that starts in a local mall, goes through a high school, and finishes in an NRA meeting, and cellardoor6 STILL maintains that there is no problem with firearms uses in the US, despite the fact thisis the third time the exact same thing happened that month.
* Little Englanders still maintain that the UK needs to get out of the EU and UN so that the UK isn't told what to do by anyone. They say this because The Daily Mail told them this is how to think, yet miss the irony.
* Some pro-Bush filmmaker tries to make a sympathetic documentary of Dubyuh's Presidency. It lasts 48 seconds, including credits.
* The US dollar falls behind the Australian dollar for the first time, and I celebrate as it happens to be at the same time as Ring of Honor's Buy 3 Get 1 Free DVD sale.
* Mitsuharu Misawa campaigns to become a member of the Japanese Diet. Part of his campaign involves a Pro Wrestling NOAH vs. Michinoku Pro match, pitting him against The Great Sasuke in the first Legislator vs. Legislator match.
* The NHS actually receives the proper funding for the first timein years - but remains underfunded to the tune of several billion pounds because of Tory neglect/sabotage in the 1980s-90s.
* Bob Dornan makes his political comeback...as a member of the UKIP.

That prediction is just made of pure win.

My Predictions:

1) Gordon Brown will eventually be forced into an election after Labour's backbench MP's rebel in an attempt to get rid of him. Brown will call an election to try and boost Labour's seats in Cabinet and show he is still popular and therefore a viable leader, but will fail and end up losing seats.

2) The Liberal Democrats will begin to look like they are making gains but will once more change their party leader s a result of Chris Huhne stabs Nick Clegg in the back to try and ascend to the party leadership

3) David Cameron will retire form politics following a bicycle accident between him and his car that carries his papers. After a month in a coma he we will leave Britain to go to a Tibetan monastery where he will live out the rest of his days in peace. His wife will have an affair with Boris Johnson.

4) There will be another terrorist attack on either the US or Britain that will succeed.

5) Tom Cruise will run for the senate due to his view that Scientology is not fairly represented in the US legislature.

6) Threads in NG politics will continue to degenerate into flame wars between a few select individuals.

People in the northen hemisphere become so obese and overindulgent that the Earth tilts on it's axis, turning Antartica into a hospitible country with a flourishing economy and population, whilst hitherto deserts burst out with tropical rainforests.

Then to everyone's surprise, they find vast quanities of oil on the moon and mars.

Only to be topped off with utter shock and amazement when God pops around for some tea and biccies.

As long as Misawa doesn't no-sell and/or stiff him, anyway.

I also predict that, after sending Chris de Burgh over to Iran, they actually start building nuclear missiles and threaten to launch them at the UK if they dare send him over again.

Well, you were also right about the school shooting, if you count the one that took place in Finland in September. Something has been done about it though; the Finnish government has started a stricter handgun license policy and there have been initiatives to increase the funding of mental health services for young people. I'm not sure how far the latter has been implemented, though.
