I use adobe flash CS3 professional, my just worked over my computer this chirstmas and I think that the most current version. On the adobe site you can d/l a trail version but you have to sign up, so When I tried it out I just d/led a torrent of it and it installes the trail version but you can pay to make it full version right over the web (or phone).

Flash CS3 is the latest, and best software out there that can make flash files (swf). It will cost $700, but it's worth every penny. And 99% of NG uses this (out of the 100% that use flash)

If you don't have enough money:
1. Get LiveSwif. A free (I think) alternative, but you get what you pay for. In this case software that can make swf files BUT it's very primitive compared to CS3
2. Get a job. If you don't have enough money get a job. Don't whine to me that you're underage. Make a lemonade stand if you need to.

how are you to be asking what do you need to make a flash game? its a little obvious, your in a flash website, thanks to that you can find a load of tutorials and in the tutorials page there is a link wich will take you to the adobe download website

Actually... most people her on NG use Flash 8... I think it's 99% who uses Flash 8 and 1% who uses CS3... Maybe with some slight different numbers... I'm thinking in 7% and 93% But CS3 is defintely getting more popular, even though the only really new feature is AS 3.0

I suggest the 30-day trial of Flash if you are a noob. But if you are an expert, you can buy now the product (which I think it lasts forever).
